There really is no one perfect rule for finding your wedding venue, but we often say that when you visit a place and it literally makes your heart pound (a whole butterflies-in-your-stomach kind of thing), it’s probably the best indicator that you’ve found your one. It’s universal advice, for sure, but that instantaneous attraction isn’t everything, because you’ll want to be able to come back to your wedding photos 5, 10, 15, 20 years later and still feel in love with the place where you put those promises out into the world. Maggie and Andrea’s wedding at Brooklyn Winery last fall (October 2021) is a true testament to that perspective, because not only was the celebration dreamy when it happened, it’s dreamy whenever photos of the day get shared again. We got the scoop on the event that had one of the day’s beautiful brides saying “It was so perfect — I can’t,” (flanked by bawling smileys and heart eyes emojis) and all we can say is wow. This venue is truly transformative. Read on to see all the amazing vibes captured by Kelly Balch.
The couple opted for a ceremony “in the round” with Brooklyn Winery’s lush plant wall serving as a backdrop for the two to exchange their vows.
While the couple enjoyed a private moment in the in-house wedding suite (with a sparkling wine toast and their own charcuterie spread! Because what winery wedding is without one?!), their guests enjoyed a wine-filled cocktail hour with a lavish antipasti bar and five types of passed hors d’oeuvres including shrimp ceviche, steak tartare, and a mushroom and caramelized onion tart.
Wine doesn’t need extra friends at the party, but we loved that Maggie and Andrea opted to have a cult favorite Aperol Spritz bar as an addition to their open bar package!
The reception was a romantic, candlelit, family-style dinner outfitted and designed by Brooklyn Winery’s creative styling team. As an all-inclusive venue, the staff provided the tables, chairs, flatware, and much of the festive tablescape decor. It was a complete showcase of all that’s rustic and refined.
Entrees included seared salmon and buttermilk fried chicken with crispy brussel sprouts and dijon mashed potatoes — please excuse us while we pick our salivating jaws off the floor…
In addition to the delectable spread of mini dessert bites, Maggie and Andrea also chose a scrumptious doughnut tower as a trendy and dynamic complement to their classic one-layer cake.
The brides wanted to incorporate as many sustainable elements into their wedding as possible, so they enlisted florist, Petal by Pedal, to bloom-scape their big day. Kate Gilman and her talented team work with small local farms that grow their flowers right in the city using sustainable practices.
Of course, the night concluded with a baller ensemble change-up and dancing in front of their custom neon sign, which read “the Perlas.”
The personalized photos offer a tremendous time capsule for the Perlas’ perfect day, but they also represent a timelessness of Brooklyn Winery that will endure for days, months, and years. Learn more about this thriving (as in grapes on the vine, tbh) wedding spot and their exciting new location launch early next year!
