Gosh, as much as I still have the slightest twinge of weird feelings about Arie after last year’s cancelled engagement, I think we can all safely say that he and Becca have moved on to respective happy endings. Becca and Garrett are good (have you seen their would-be boho wedding shoot? It is 🔥) and Lauren and Arie [Luyendyk Jr.] are newlyweds WITH a baby girl coming SO soon. The pair got married in Hawaii this past weekend, and just this morning, Us Weekly finally shared all the exclusive deets about their day. It was amazing. Included soooo many fun things like Lauren wearing a piece of one of her hubby’s old race car suits in her garter, her girls all wearing white, an adorable first look that really wasn’t (apparently Lauren and Arie’s Best Man teamed up to switch places for the first look, and instead of Lauren tapping her guy on the shoulder, it was his bestie, in a dress, with a beer in hand 🤣).
But the best part of it all - aside from the BEAUTIFUL place it all happened, the fact that Chris Harrison choked up right before officiating their ceremony, and the obvious, palpable love that was in the air, everywhere - was Lauren’s custom Hayley Paige dress. The designer (who we refuse to stop crushing on) told Us that the gorgeous, sleeveless gown was “created from a very romantic and imaginative place.” It featured floral embellishments and was whimsy, romantic, so modern and princessy, while still being hella sexy. And when it came to her teensy little bun in the oven, well, it didn’t matter: the dress didn’t need any modifications. Hayley shared “I love that she's now expecting because that, honestly, did not impact the design at all. I really wanted it to just be something that felt true to her and from her original vision. That was special.”

We really can’t wait to see more photos of the dress, in all its glory, but for now, we’re just obsessing over the neckline, which is plunging, but just a tasteful smidge of plunge. Especially for a soon-to-be mama who may be getting bustier and want some support and cool coverage. It’s funny, even before I saw Us Weekly’s Insta post, this morning, reporting on the exclusive Luyendyk Jr. wedding, I saw a post from Stella York, featuring one of the prettiest dresses I’ve ever seen. The caption mentioned a “skinny plunge” neckline and went on to say that “it’s not as revealing as you might think, but adds just a POP of drama to a dress!” And then I saw Lauren’s gown, and thought, oh yes, this skinny plunge is everything.
What’s a skinny plunge? Well, it’s just like it sounds, a plunge that isn’t too much, but still brings all the sass and drama with it. Lauren’s is a LITTLE bit wider than Stella’s, but the vibe is still very similar. Featuring nude illusion netting, the dip is modest, but still sensibly provocative. It’s a great look for a bride who wants to show some skin, but in a way that feels comfortable and appropriate for a ceremony in front of parents, grandparents, etc. The perfect modern twist on tradition.
In any case, we went on a skinny plunge binge and found some favorites that we think you’ll love. Again, these are more subtle iterations of the plunging neckline trend, but if you want to go bigger, you can and should (look at Pnina Tornai, BERTA, Tara Keely, One Day Bridal, etc. their plunging necks are OOC in all the good ways)!!
