Who else looked at Princess Eugenie on the steps of St. George's Chapel in Windsor this morning and thought ‘OMG, could she be any more DP?’ Disney Princess, that is. Because that was all we could think over here. From her hair, to her tiara, alabaster skin to her dreamy dress, Eugenie resembled a mix of Ariel on her wedding day and Belle on any given day - and we just can’t stop comparing her vow-day visage to these v. important heroines in Disney history.

So, what about the dress just drips Disney, and Ariel and Belle specifically? We’ll show ya…

See what we mean??!!?!
Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos’ bespoke gown was just amazing - not only because it honored Eugenie’s past (#somethingold if you will), showing off the scar she got after undergoing scoliosis correction surgery as a preteen - but because it was everything an iconic princess gown usually is. A structured and regally-resplendent ball gown, with eye-catching pleating in the full skirt and a totally dramatic train, full-length sleeves, and a folded, shallow v-neckline that created signature Disney Princess poofing around her shoulders. The silk jacquard fabric was every bit blue blood beautiful, and embedded/embroidered with super meaningful motifs to Eugenie, including thistle, shamrocks, York Roses and ivy. All emblematic of her life and loves: the thistle for Balmoral, Scotland (a place near and dear to the Queen), shamrocks for Ireland (a tribute to her mother), York Roses and ivy for her homestead with Jack in Kensington.

We did our best to track down some of the most Eugenie-in-likeness designs from New York Bridal Fashion Week - and while few gowns hit on ALL the highlights (the silhouette+sleeves+a folded shallow v neck+a low dipped back+bow detail adorning the train), they definitely can’t be dismissed for their similarity to HRH’s custom wedding wardrobe.
Keep refreshing our new wedding dress galleries, too, to see if any other designers had Royal Wedding clairvoyance when it came to their newly-debuted couture.
