For anyone who didn’t know, BHLDN, Anthropologie’s wedding counterpart, is celebrating its 10th year in business this weekend (on Valentine’s Day, of course)! We’ve had a colossal crush on this brand for sooo many years, and we couldn’t be happier to see our friends hit such a major milestone. To commemorate the success of such a stylishly-dressed decade, BHLDN is bringing back gowns that were part of its original launch - it’s a capsule collection that, rightfully so, gives us lots of XOXO feels, and we’re jealous of all the brides who can take advantage. Nope, not jealous, just super excited for you - these dresses are too good. So, without further ado, we present BHLDN’s Decade Collection.
Yes, you’ve seen these dresses before, but probably wayyy before you became a bride yourself. I, for one, was just a couple years out of college and working in PR when I heard about Anthropologie’s new bridal venture. It was still a year or two before I attended bridal fashion week for the first time, but as soon as I saw what this store had in store for soon-to-be-wed women, by way of divine dresses inspired by the most romantic, deeply feminine, ripe with whimsy, and artful aesthetic, I knew I had to work in bridal. It’s as if BHLDN’s Valentine’s Day debut was like a big proposal to me, one that asked “Do you really love love that much to work in this industry and be surrounded by stunning aisle styles day after day? Could you commit to weddings forever?” To which I happily responded, “OMG, Yes.”
But anyway, back to that point about dresses coming out of retirement. Consider this a kind of Disney-esque iconic moment (well, series of moments, to be more precise) where BHLDN will be going into their ‘reserved for vows’ vault and re-releasing 10 of the brand’s most beautiful legacy designs for a short time. The dresses celebrate and honor BHLDN’s history throughout the years, and more importantly, pay tribute to the sundry special love stories that they have been a part of. We die for this last point, in particular, because there is truly no template for a BHLDN bride. She does her own thing, she has a signature, effortless style and an envious spirit, and she gets married however, wherever, to whoever she damn well pleases. She is a legend in her own right.
It’s almost poetic. Designs that were perfect for brides a decade ago are just as ideal for the time we’re living in at present - be it a silk crepe slip, a short & sweet silk-cotton midi, or a confection with hints of pink that would make Cupid himself blush BIG TIME.
From Bexley to Emma, Lorne to Neela, there’s no dress we love best (well, okay, I have a fave, but I’m not going on the record with it 😉), because every single one gives us heart eyes
