Alexandra Grecco is delighted to introduce her latest collection, a tribute to her beloved grandmother, Roberta, affectionately known as Birdie among her closest friends and family. This collection is a celebration of Birdie's remarkable sense of style, her boundless creativity, and the captivating stories she shared about her upbringing in Brooklyn.
Alexandra's grandmother played a pivotal role in nurturing her passion for fashion from a very young age. Some of her fondest memories are of the afternoons spent together in Birdie's attic, sifting through what she considered to be treasures of "wearable art" and attempting to fit into shoes that she stubbornly insisted weren't too big or high for her seven-year-old feet. As Alexandra paraded in each ensemble, Birdie would lovingly describe the unique details she adored, the upscale department stores where she had found them, or the glamorous parties where she had worn them. It was a magical blend of storytelling and dress-up that continues to inspire Alexandra to this day. This is where you can buy an Alexandra Grecco wedding dress.
For this collection, Alexandra and her team carefully selected fabrics and details that evoked a sense of nostalgia while also radiating freshness. They struck a harmonious balance between structured elements and romantic draping, weaving in ethereal textures.
Birdie frequently emphasized the importance of buying fewer, high-quality wardrobe pieces, ones that were locally crafted and built to withstand the test of time. While she didn't always adhere to this principle and occasionally indulged in luxury purchases, her message resonated with Alexandra. It's likely what inspired Alexandra's commitment to creating beautifully constructed, heirloom-quality pieces right here in the heart of New York City's Garment District.
Birdie's style was the epitome of classic chic, always infused with a touch of unexpected flair. She had a penchant for adorning herself with brooches, often favoring a blossoming organza peony in a color that perfectly matched her mood. Despite being the most stylish woman in their midst, Birdie remained humble, kind, and exuded grace.

In addition to their signature silky fabrics, they crafted pieces using luminous sheer organza, delicate chantilly lace, and wispy tulle. The placement of embroidery is both playful and refined, lending a sculptural quality inspired by Birdie's love for floral arrangements. They even recreated the fabric flower brooch Birdie adored, allowing their brides to infuse their own whimsical touch into their wedding gowns or any ensemble that captures their essence.
Today, Alexandra resides not far from the neighborhood where her grandmother grew up. She often finds herself passing by Birdie's old street when visiting Prospect Park, a place Birdie held dear. It was a profoundly special experience to spend a day at the park's boathouse, overlooking the tranquil lake, while styling the lookbook with some of Birdie's cherished accessories—a delicate straw hat adorned with lace appliqué and an assortment of rings and earrings adorned with pearls.
Although Birdie left them this past February, the memories of her and the cherished moments in Birdie's attic will endure through this collection.
