A honeymoon is one of the few times when employers will let you take a longer period off from work, so take advantage and go somewhere far, far far away, or for long enough that you can lose track of days. Pick somewhere new to you both. My number-one piece of advice for honeymooners is to go someplace neither of you have been before. Splurge on a stellar room. Your room matters more on a honeymoon; after all, you'll be spending more time in it than you would on a family vacation. So go for it: Spring for the suite with the amazing view, the Jacuzzi bathtub or the perfect plunge pool. Image Source.5. Bring along your sense of humor. Travel is travel no matter how much you prepare in advance, there is always the chance that something unforeseen will occur. Protect yourselves from major issues by purchasing travel insurance -- a good policy should cover you for anything from an accident on the way to the airport to medical evacuation. As for those other smaller snafus -- delayed flights, unexpected rainstorms -- remember that this too shall pass, and if you can laugh about it now, you'll make a good memory of it later. Try something adventurous. There's no better time than your honeymoon to try something new to you both -- could be a resort scuba diving course, a cooking class, or horseback riding. Most hotels have special amenities on tap for romantic occasions, from flowers and champagne waiting on arrival to elaborate dinners featuring your favorite menu, set up on the beach, in a cove, even on a deck floating in the middle of the water. There's no better way to share your gratitude at finding your soulmate than giving back. It could be bringing along school supplies for children in a developing country to simply donating your leftover Euros, pesos or baht to a local charity before leaving the country.
