You will need:
A pomegranate, a bowl, a knife, and a wooden spoon
Hint:
This will splatter, so we recommend wearing an apron.Step 1:
Imagine that the pomegranate is the earth and the two poles are the top and bottom of the pomegranate. Take your knife and score along the "equator" of your pomegranate. Do not cut all the way through!Step 2:
Using your thumbs pry open the pomegranate until you have torn it into two halves.Step 3:
Set one half aside for now. Take the pomegranate half in both hands and gently press upward on the rounded side with your fingers as if trying to turn the fruit inside out. This will help loosen the seeds from the pith.Step 4:
Turn the pomegranate over and either grasp it from the top or lay it flat in your palm. Hit the pomegranate with your wooden spoon, working from the top to the bottom, and watch in amazement as the seeds just fall into your bowl!Step 5:
Repeat steps 3 and 4 on your second pomegranate half and enjoy the delicious fruits of your 30 seconds of labor!
