Ready to start Contouring 101? It's super simple we promise! Here are the products (or similar) that you'll need:
To contour use a bronzer similar to this Hoola Bronzer by Benefit with a slightly angled brush.
To highlight use a highlighting powder similar to this Mary-Lou Manizer powder with a small blending brush.
To blush cheeks use a blush similar to this Bobbi Brown Pale Pink blush with a rounded blush brush.We have to admit contouring can be puzzling. So, what is contouring anyways?
As you can see above in the before and after, contouring paired with highlighting are two tricks that can instantly make your best features pop! Using lighter and darker shades of powders is one of the fastest and easiest ways to create the illusion of great bone structure. And the best part... it takes less than 5 minutes!Tip: Look for a matte taupe contour color that is about 2 to 3 shades darker than your skin tone.Step 1. Contour the cheeks to define and sculpt: with a small angled brush, sweep the contour color along your temples, cheekbones and jawline in the shape of a "3". If you are unsure of the color placement on the cheeks, imagine a line from the top of the ear to the corner of your mouth.Tip: Only apply the contour to areas you want to recede or slim down.Step 2. Contour the nose to make it appear more narrow: with a small fluffy brush, place the contour colour down the sides of your nose. Use the starting point of the inner eyebrows as a reference point.Tip: Only apply highlighter to areas you want to brighten and lift.Step 3. Highlight the cheekbones to bring luminosity to the face: using the same brush, sweep the highlight colour onto the highest point of your cheekbones.Tip: Blend well and make sure there are no harsh lines.Step 4. Highlight the nose to bring light to the center of the face: with a small fluffy brush, dust some of the highlight color down the center of the nose.Tip: Always take a step back and look at your makeup from far away to get perspectiveStep 5.
