While getting married or honeymooning on One Happy Island always seems like a good idea, uncertain times definitely call for CYA measures. Aruba gets it, and with its brand new Happily Ever After Guarantee, the hot (well, let’s just clarify that, 82 degrees on average) spot for couples planning unforgettable ‘I Dos’ or post-vow vacations is making all the right contingencies when it comes to COVID-19. Yep, we know that travel can be a cause for trepidation right now, but we’ve gotten some good news from our friends in the Caribbean - and we wanted to share everything we know!
Why wouldn’t it be??! Getting engaged, planning a wedding, doing it all with the person that you’ll spend the rest of your life with, it’s ‘supposed’ to be the best, most blissful time ever, but bumps in the road to planning your dream day can dull that sparkle. And that’s just unacceptable, IMO.
That’s why I’m so excited to see a destination like Aruba stepping up to try and push all those gray skies away, making way for all the sunshine. I’ve been to Aruba several times, based my son’s first birthday theme on the island (#BabyBeach #OneHappyBirthday), and couldn’t think of a more romantic, picturesque, perfect place for all of us to come out on the other end of this crazy time.
If you’re a couple that’s looking at 2021 as their year to make things official, then the Happily Ever After Guarantee is probs your cup of tea.
The Happily Ever After Guarantee is a postponable, destination booking policy for couples dreaming of booking a 2021 wedding or honeymoon, but experiencing hesitations about COVID-19 affecting future travel.
While it could still take some time to know what the ‘new normal’ will look like at weddings, vow renewals, honeymoons, etc., One Happy Island is giving wedding-planning people the freedom of a Plan B or C….
Couples can now book their event with a participating hotel or resort venue of their choice and feel a sense of calm, cool, and composure (not unlike soothing warm ocean waves washing over you, tbh) knowing that if they have to postpone the occasion due to COVID-19 pandemic issues, they can, simply by providing a 30-day notice period. Through the program, weddings and honeymoons booked for 2021 can be postponed for up to a year from the original event date.
Whether you’re a true Aruba admirer (I have been there multiple times and can understand, 100 percent, what is meant by its One Happy Island claim to fame #accurate), you’ve felt its magic with your S.O. before (potentially even in combination with your proposal or a romantic trip that made you appreciate the depths of your love and devotion to one another), or look forward to sharing some of your first ‘dushi’ (it means 'sweetheart' in Papiamento, the native language of Aruba) milestones together, when you come for the first time, one trip is all it takes to fall head over heels for this beautiful place. See below for those qualifications.
Aruba is located outside of the hurricane belt, with an average daily temperature of 82 degrees, so good weather is practically guaranteed.
NYC; Chicago; Boston; Dallas; an average of 5 total hours in the air when flying direct.
The island is one of the most welcoming LGBTQ+ friendly destinations in the Caribbean.
I can go on and on about the delicious mix of modern cuisine and traditional tropical fare, the luxurious and infinitely-relaxing resorts (all-inclusive, private villas, adults-only options), the once-in-a-lifetime recreational adventures, and the positively pristine pink and white-sand beaches, but let’s be honest, with all the time we could have on our hands right now, it’s a great time to learn more about this lust-worthy locale and start designing your dream wedding day (or making those honeymoon fantasies you’ve been having - we all are, really - a reality!).
Starting now through the end of December 2020, couples can visit the important policy points page to view participating hotels and resorts and take advantage of the Happily Ever After Guarantee. Note, as no two Aruba weddings are the same, associated costs are dependent on each venue’s terms and conditions, as well as peripheral circumstances like time of year, preferences for goings-on at the wedding or honeymoon itself, whether or not the location is all-inclusive or not, etc.) Flights are not included as part of the program.
If you already have your wedding booked for this year, they recommend getting in touch with your hotel, as many have flexible policies for 2020 planning.
Now go ahead and double tap all of those crystal blue waters and cotton candy sky pics you’ve been too scared to ❤️ in the midst of a pandemic. It’s not only okay to be daydreaming about better days (ones spent sipping everything you can out of coconuts), it’s encouraged!! At least that’s what we’ve come to learn about good vibes.
We partnered with Aruba Tourism to share their brand new Happily Ever After Guarantee protection policy for COVID-19-related postponements. As always, thank you for supporting our sponsors!
