From Soo Events -Sossan is from Afghanistan, and Nikos is from Greece, so we had a lot of cultural background to incorporate into their special day. We decided to blend the bright colors of an Afghan wedding, with the beautiful blues of the Aegean Sea and bougainvillea's bright fuchsia. Bougainvillea is considered a trademark of the Greek islands.
Since first impressions always count, we incorporated this colorful palette into the invitation suite. All the guests would get an idea of the wedding style as soon as they received them. Bold colors and brush strokes used by the talented stationery designer, Love Me Do. They created a very artistic and modern wedding invitation suite, vow booklets, menu cards and all the print material you see at the wedding. Check out the custom vow books here.
The bride wore a stunning Rita Vinieris wedding gown. She was so radiant and happy in it, that even the strong wind didn’t seem to worry her one bit!
The groom chose a blue and grey three-piece suit, that came with little boats design on the inside, along with a beautiful saying to his bride-to-be. "With You I am Home."
The ceremony took place in one of Ios’ most iconic villas, overlooking the Aegean sea. The Cycladic Gem Luxury Villa. The spacious five-bedroom Gem can accommodate ten people with comfort, or even more, making it ideal for family holidays or groups of friends visiting Ios island.
The wedding guests arrived at the villa around 5pm in the evening and they were welcomed with favors to make them feel more comfortable during the warm day, such as wooden fans, panama hats and parasols. Scroll down to see all the favors.
The groom waited in front of a wooden frame, decorated with bougainvilleas, peach and pink David Austin roses and other colorful flowers, while his bride walked down the aisle next to her father.
After the ceremony, the guests congratulated the newlyweds and had some refreshments before leaving for the reception.
The reception venue was held at the iconic restaurant, los Club. This Greece wedding reception venue has an amazing view of the island, which is popularly known for its gorgeous sunsets.
Bright colors were also incorporated into the wedding reception decor. Each table had a custom plexiglass table number on it.
Sossan and Niko's guests found worry beads or kompoloi at their seats. These string of beads are a traditional Greek item and are used to pass time in Greek and Cypriot culture.
The couple entered the reception venue around sunset time and was welcomed by a very enthusiastic crowd. After having dinner under the fairy light sky that we created for them, they cut their orange and coral brush stroke decorated wedding cake and danced until the morning hours with their friends.
