Brides got to eat, too. You don’t want to mess up your hair, nails, makeup or especially the dress — the worst possible outcome. If you go without food to avoid messes, your mental, emotional and physical health also suffer, leading to low blood sugar and heightened nerves. Here’s how to eat healthy, conveniently and mess-free on your Big Day.

1. Start with a Healthy Breakfast

You know your body the best, whether you should start the day with a larger breakfast or not. Have a healthy and light-medium breakfast filled with the right foods to make your stomach feel fuller and settled.

It’s a good idea to spread mini meals out through the day while keeping in mind what catered meals you’ll consume, too. You want to have enough room.

Choose healthy, whole carbohydrates, such wheat bagel, and load it with peanut butter. Eat strawberries and a banana. Have a cup of yogurt. Smoked salmon with cream cheese on toast will keep you full and make you feel like a queen.

2. Crunchy, Fiber-Rich Veggies

Stay away from leaky vegetables and aim for ones that have more fiber. Choose vegetables rich in fiber to remain satiated, and will keep your digestive system busy. Consider carrots, celery, broccoli, cauliflower and artichokes.

Those crunch veggies will also satisfy your need to bite into something or someone in a moment of frustration. Take it out on the carrot.

3. Nuts

Are people driving you nuts? Then, eat some nuts.

Make your own trail mix — that way you don’t have to deal with spicy, greasy fingers. Be careful of sriracha or salted nuts. Opt for healthy, clean nuts with big flavor like cashews, which are loaded with fiber.

Eating a small handful of fiber-rich cashews means you won’t risk a midday sugar crash since they regulate your blood sugar, and you’ll remain satiated. Cashews can also help you lose weight for the later reason if you snack on them up to your wedding day.

Eat a nut every time your mother comes to adjust your hair.

4. Wrap it Up

Avoid crackers and chips — they crumble, fall and get into awkward places. Don’t do it.

Wrap it up, instead. Take those veggies and other ingredients and wrap them up securely. Be careful of drips. Better yet, slice your wrap up into pinwheels, and nosh on those. Wrap sliced meats, veggies and cheeses into a wrap, roll it up and slice. Cream cheese adds flavor without risking too much dripping. Many pinwheel recipes are served after refrigeration, so they hold up better.

5. Stick it on a Skewer

Don’t want to mess up your nails? Snack on skewers lined with cherry tomatoes, basil and mozzarella cheese. Add meats, vegetables and fruits. Customize your skewers to your preference.

Skip sauces on your meats to avoid dripping. Do the lean if you need to — bend over another surface to create a safe edible distance between your mouth and whatever you don’t want to mess up but do so at your own risk.

6. Increase Your Probiotics

Your gut contains good and bad bacteria, and probiotics replenish and nurture the good gut bacteria in your body. Good gut health means good digestion, which means less bloating. So, if you’re going to eat your feelings for the day, focus on probiotics.

Many probiotic-rich foods are on the drippy side, so you may want to include these the day before or the morning of your wedding. Think of fermented foods, such as sauerkraut, yogurt and kefir. You can also drink a tall glass of organic kombucha. Taking probiotics in pill form is an option, too.

Use these tips to stay satiated, healthy and mess-free as you get ready for your wedding. Keep your menu for the day in mind and create a behind the scenes snack menu for yourself and those helping you out.

It’s important to keep your nutrition up, and this will regulate your blood sugar and mood to make the day the best it can be for your memory and photo albums. Take out any stress on a carrot and eat some cashews when you feel like you might go a little nut. Everything will soon come together, and you’ll be a beautiful bride!
