How many times has happened that you see a wonderful wedding shooting BUT you notice some “mistakes” that with a simple trick could have been avoided? Here you go, a list of 10 useful yet important details not to forget for your wedding photoshoots.

1. BACKGROUND 

Wedding attires and accessories, moreover when not worn yet, need a background. Take some time to re-arrange the room where you’re getting ready before your photographer starts to shoot. Remember: a messy room will be visible in photos!

2. TECHNICAL SUPPLIES

Microphones, speakers, tripods, cables are with no doubt useful and often necessary but if not planned with an eye on their look as well, they will be visible in the photos. Remember with the help of your vendor to choose materials that can be easily hidden into the ambience like clip-on microphones, wireless solutions and slim speakers.

3. WEDDING STATIONERY

Menus, place cards, invitations, vows booklets...Remember to keep with you a sample of each piece to get shot professionally.

4. ACCESSORIES

Rings, jewels, shoes, ribbons, family things that you will wear or bring with you. They are part of your wedding day too. Remember to collect them for some professional shoots during the getting-ready time.

5. HANGER

Remember not to put your wedding gown on a plastic hanger! If you don’t have a nice one at your disposal, you can always decorate a simple metal wire hanger with some ribbons or flowers or you can even ask one of your bridesmaids to hang the dress for the photographer so that her own dress can be the background for the photo.

6. FLOWER ACCESSORIES

Bridal bouquet, boutonnieres, floral hair pins..: remember to get them delivered on time by your florist to let the photographer shoot them with no rush while you’re getting ready.

7. TABLE DECOR

After the ceremony it’s certainly the area where you have put most of your efforts: table setting, floral arrangements, menu, place cards..remember to let your photographer have some time to shoot it when ready before the guests take their seats and.. remember to light on the candles!

8. CAKE CUT

Lighting and decor are essential elements to make the photos work perfectly! Remember that it’s going to be a much-photographed moment and like all the others requires some attention to details which are often forgotten.

9. SUPERVISION

If you have a wedding planner or a wedding coordinator, that’s the person who will be in charge of keeping an eye on all these details but if you’re planning the wedding by yourself remember to ask a friend to take care about this checklist.

10. TEAM UP WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

Last but yet the most important point to make the other 9 work! So remember to:
- Share the timing and the flow of the event so that your photographer is aware of what-will-happen-when.
- Consider that also the getting-ready is an important part of your wedding day. Ask your photographer to take part of those moments.
- Discuss together what will be going at your event at sunset time because due to the amazing light most probably your photographer will love to bring you out of the crowd and take some intimate shoots.
- Meet each other before the wedding day to break the ice and empathize: if possible it would be great by the venue but if not, also in front of a coffee or a video call for a simple intro chat.
