You have spent months (heck, even years) planning the wedding of your dreams. Once the dust settles and you receive your coveted wedding photos, preserving those moments is just as important as the time you spent planning every detail of the ceremony. Creating a wedding album is the perfect way to share the story of your wedding for years to come. Getting started can be a little intimidating, so we’ve made this guide to help you create the perfect wedding album.
Today’s brides and grooms have access to more photos than ever before. Couples typically receive hundreds, if not thousands, of photos in one easy link that captures all the memories from the big day. An easy way to make sure nothing gets lost is to follow the event chronologically – from the bridal party getting ready to the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner and dancing. Tell your wedding story in the order it happened for a more impactful design.
While staged shots are lovely, some of the most memorable moments may not be planned at all. The father’s reaction as he sees his daughter for the first time, the faces of guests as they watch the bride walk down the aisle, or the laughter shared amongst groomsmen prior to the ceremony. These cherished photos are often the most meaningful of the entire day – be selective and don’t be afraid to choose the photos that mean the most to you.

There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to deciding on color versus black and white photos. If your wedding featured a lot of color – bridesmaid dresses, colorful bouquets of flowers, décor, and etc. then color may more adequately capture the memory of the day. Black and white images are perfect for capturing the feeling and emotion in certain images. A mix of both sometimes works best, but we recommend sticking with one style per spread.
Even though it’s tempting to just post your wedding photos on social media, seeing your wedding day in print is an experience you will never forget. We recommend creating your album the same week you receive your photos from the photographer. Or at the very least, set a date in your calendar to sit down and layout your album. The last thing you want to do is look up 10 years from now trying to track down your wedding photos. Act swiftly while the memories are still fresh. And once it arrives, be sure to share it with your family and loved ones!
