In relation to your “Guilty, Grieving & grateful bride” article it really hits home for me.
My husband and I in Australia had a similar experience, about a month prior to our wedding my sister/ MOH was sent to hospital for kidney stones and had them removed the week prior to our wedding, the Tuesday prior my husband and I spent 8 hours at the hospital as he had knee problems and was unable to walk. Thankfully with strong medication he was sent home.
Come the Day of the wedding, Saturday the 14th of March 2020 it was horrible winds and rain, throw in the fact it was also the coldest day in March since 1970.
But by the time of our ceremony at 4:30pm the rain and the wind was gone for our outdoor ceremony and for the reception so we were able to dance outside under the stars and sparklers for our first dance. The night was perfect with over 115 guests. My husband also was able to walk back with me down the aisle and have our first dance, even though four days earlier he was lucky to walk.
We unfortunately couldn’t go on our honeymoon (we have rebooked for late October). We feel so blessed and have had so many people tell us how lucky we are to have “Got our wedding in”. As for later the next week new regulations introduced said only 5 people to be at a wedding. I’ve heard of so many people having to cancel and postpone their days.. Some even the weekend after ours. I myself don’t believe I would of coped with having to reorganise and change especially how close these new introduced regulations were to our day.
I’m so grateful but I also have some guilt as one of my very good friends has had to postpone her wedding date of May 2020 to February 2021, hearing the words from her “ you guys were so lucky” breaks my heart.
I also feel so much for our amazing vendors and hope they can survive this 💓 Ruth Matos Celebrant, Louise Richmond Hairdesign and make up, Phamily Productions Wedding Films, our photographer from The Evoke Company, Ultimate Entertainment and Leah Mitchell Florist. Our wedding was also held at Ravensthorpe, Albion Park. NSW Australia. All together they were amazing to bring our whole day together from beginning to the end.
