How’s this for #TBT chicks, we wanted to provide just a little bit more background on a post we regrammed a few days ago, which included - arguably - the cutest couple ever.
George and Ginger Brown, you are ALL the goals. Married on June 6, 1959, this photogenic pair just celebrated 60 years of marital bliss, and thanks to their wedding photographer granddaughter, Abigail, were surprised with a photo session that literally takes our breath away.
It makes a lot of sense that these two would totally shine in their anniversary styled shoot, because even 60 years ago, their photos were 🔥🔥🔥. ((They do tend to be when a couple is so impressively in love, like G&G were and still are six decades and a lot of love and laughter later)).
In any case, Abigail’s grandparents actually live in South Carolina, but they planned a trip to New Jersey to share this major milestone with family. Abigail figured it’d be a fantastic thing to put together a beautiful photo memory of Grandmom and Granddad in honor of their anniversary - and with the help of some of her closest industry friends, dressed and glammed them up, gave them gorgeous florals, and got some of the most stunning snapshots of these soulmates.
Ginger had never had her hair and makeup done professionally before, so her glam job had her feeling like a movie star. As did George’s, his haircut was handsome as ever.
Grandmom also rocked a floral crown, which was positively perfect, who says you have to be a young, boho bride to appreciate the trend?!
Granddad looked GQ and some in his gray waistcoat and tie.
The dress that she wore was a total renaissance version of her gown from 1959. The brilliant brains at the bridal boutique did some digging to find a look that would give her the same kind of glow she had when she married her man way back when.
We’re always so inspired by these kinds of stories, because it’s nice to know that true love 100p exists - it’s not just the hope. So, when Abigail shared some snippets of the session on her Instagram feed, we were thrilled to also see some of G&G’s heartfelt, happily-ever-after advice.
These sentiments are definitely some things that we’ve seen circulated around bridal showers - well wishes and advice for the happy couple - but they’re often taken for granted.
But if the tips come from a duo who have done 60 years together, with four children, 18 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren (OMG), then they might just bear some truth. Don’t lose sight of them:
Never go to bed angry, resolve your problems before you go to bed
Be prepared to always forgive
Always have a good sense of humor (George’s personal favorite)
Words like “never” and “always” can get you in trouble in relationships, but maybe absolutes like these have a special kind of power… they worked for George and Ginger!
