Wedding Announcement: Greenvelope Just Married Announcement
You know, earlier this year, I remember talking about 2020 with a lot of excitement and expectation. Unfortunately, I was way off on my ‘it’s going to be lit’ gauge, because it’s just been a total mess. Couples who looked forward to the new millennium as their year to make things official have had to deal with a completely unprecedented course change, and it just flat out sucks no matter how you look at it. Postponing to another date (much later this year or next) might & hopefully will take COVID-19 out of the equation, but when you’ve been engaged for so long already, with a wedding so close you could literally taste the champs following toast after toast after toast, an extra few months or year of anticipation is downright cruel. That’s why we’re thrilled to be finding out that some brides and grooms are just saying screw it and either seriously scaling back their celebrations or just opting to elope!
If you’re among the crazy number of couples who saved the date for 2020, but don’t really feel like delaying, because who does when we’re still completely in the dark about this virus’s trajectory? Then don’t! It’s your day, you can choose to honor it however you damn well wish - and not have to ask permission to do so. After the fact, though, you'll of course want to let the people who you had hoped to party with know that you just couldn’t wait to wed: you’re done with the “I Dos” and even though you didn’t have the day that you once imagined, it was special anyway.

Minted, for instance, has a stacked selection of wedding announcements that are fully customizable. Couples can shop the existing designs and personalize the text and photos to address their own unique reality of getting married during the pandemic. The brand also let us know that it’s been popular for brides and grooms to choose one of their wedding announcement cards and include a longer-form letter to directly reference the current COVID climate and their decision to get married now, along with a save the [new] date card if they’ll be having an in-person celebration later.
A couple of our other favorite stationery brands have made specific COVID-adjacent adjustments to their already-super sweet just-married and elopement announcements, and they are such great tools to let your squad know that amid all the chaos and uncertainty in our world rn, love is constant and always a cause for celebration. Whether you’ll be having a bigger party later on or getting right into that newlywed life and not looking back #buhbye2020itsbeenablast // nope, scratch that, it’s been a disaster, you can show off your nuptials in a big way even if the way you tied the knot wasn’t.

"We don’t want to sound like a broken record, but, with these unprecedented circumstances, we’ve just been in awe of the love and resiliency of so many of our couples whose wedding plans had to change so drastically. From the couples who have postponed until next year and found unique ways to honor their wedding day together, to the couples who simply couldn’t or didn’t want to wait who have eloped or created incredible virtual celebrations with close friends and family, we are so inspired. We’ve been offering complimentary postponements and cancellations to anyone who needs them throughout this difficult time, and while it is just a small piece of the puzzle, we are grateful for the chance to help however we can. It’s been said before, but we’ll say it 1000 more times: love isn’t cancelled, and our incredible couples have shown us that every single day.
Our new marriage and elopement announcements were directly inspired by our real-world couples we have seen that just could not wait to be married. Many are planning on having larger receptions and celebrations once things are safe again, but decided to celebrate their nuptials as planned in a more intimate setting. Whether couples opt for romantic, simple, or a more playful style… we hope that with all of the customization options couples are able to create the design that is perfect for them.” ~ Alex Kelsey, Greenvelope
