Lola Akingbade, CEO of MasterPlan Events, a premier & luxury wedding planning company based in the Washington DC area launched My Wedding Treasures in July 2020 to provide a marketplace for brides and grooms to sell and buy preloved wedding items. “As a wedding planner and a woman of color, I saw the frustration in my couples who were searching for affordable wedding items (new or pre-owned) that were specific to their style & aesthetic. Also couples often tell me that they do not want to spend so much money on an item that would only be used once and possibly only for a few minutes on their wedding day. I often had to connect new brides with former brides to provide new brides access to preloved wedding items. There was also the popular question of what should I do with my dress after the wedding?”
The ultimate mission of My Wedding Treasures is to provide a safe and easy platform for sellers to earn some dollars selling beautiful and stylish items (new or gently used) from their wedding that they no longer need. We know weddings can be expensive, selling is a way to recoup some of the money spent. Also, for buyers to shop these stylish pieces at an affordable price. It’s a win-win for everyone involved. The wedding items are not limited to dresses; you can buy or sell dresses, shoes, accessories, table numbers, cake toppers, gift table sign and many more.

• There are no out of pocket costs. It is completely free to list your items on My Wedding Treasures. There is only a small commission when a buyer purchases the items.
• The payment method offered is safe & secure. Buyers and Sellers have to use PayPal. When a buyer pays for the items, the funds are held in the My Wedding Treasures account until the buyer confirms receipt of the items. Once receipt is confirmed, then the funds are released to the seller.
