Dark Romance Wedding Ideas

Halloween wedding invite

Vintage shutters, rustic church pews, dramatic chandeliers, and tufted burlap upholstery were the perfect props for a hauntingly beautiful bridal scene. All this rustic vintage goodness can be found at RJ Imports. Which, also happens to be one of Amy's favorite home decor shops in San Juan Capistrano, California.
While it was a fun for these Orange County wedding vendors to use this amazing space to create something with a bit of an eerie vibe, they wanted to show brides that you can  incorporate all of the ideas shown here into a real wedding. Designed by Pink Peppermint Design  and photographed by Kimberlee Miller Photography. For more dark romance wedding ideas, be sure to go look in the full gallery here.

On The DIY DECOR

From: Pink Peppermint Design I hand dipped and glittered white pumpkins to add a graphic detail that would play nicely off of the colorful whimsical floral arrangement on the table. This is an easy and inexpensive touch for any fall wedding and would be easy to incorporate into any color scheme. Using muslin, black cotton fabric, and some appliqué fusing, I made vintage silhouette appliqués that I applied to muslin pennants to identify the Bride and Groom’s seats at the table. A vintage inspired fabric bunting was created by tearing 3 inch strips of assorted cotton fabrics and stitching them together to create varied lengths to drape both behind the dessert table and on the bride and groom’s chairs. It was an easy way to introduce more patterns and textures into the design. Hand antiqued chargers, ruffled muslin table runners and chalkboard tag escort cards embellished with old keys, velvet ribbon, and rhinestones rounded out the DIY elements.

Poison Apple Recipe

Prep time: 10 minutes | Inactive time: 2 hours | Cook time: 10 minutes | Total time: 2 hours 20 minutes Ingredients For the sauce:
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
4 tablespoons butter, unsalted
1 tablespoon vanilla extract black food coloring For the apples
6 Granny Smith apples Skewers Directions
1. To make the caramel, in a medium-size saucepan over medium heat, heat the brown sugar and heavy cream.Whisk constantly until the sugar is dissolved. Add in the butter 1 tablespoon at a time, careful to mix well after each addition. Reduce the heat to medium-low, and stir continuously while adding in the vanilla until the mixture is thick and lightly browned, about 6 minutes. You need to keep stirring to prevent the sauce from burning.
2. Once browned, remove the mixture from the heat, and immediately pour it into a sterilized jar. Chill it for about 1 hour (to thicken up). Once the apples are ready to dip, add enough food coloring to the caramel to get a nice, rich black color.
3. Remove the stems from the tops of the apples, and carefully insert the skewers into the centers. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
4. One at a time, dip the apples into the caramel, covering them to the very top (but leaving a circle around the skewer that shows off the green). Hold the apples up above the caramel so the excess can drip off. Place the apples on the parchment paper, and chill them for about 1 hour.
5. Once ready to serve, remove the black caramel apples from the parchment paper, and enjoy. Recipe via: she knows
