Happy couple piggybacking outdoors smiling broadly post:

Looking to spice up your date night for Valentine's Day? You're in luck! While we are die-hard Netflix and chill fans any night of the week, my hubby and I wanted to do something that would get our butts off the couch and out making memories in the real world. So with Valentine's Day just around the corner, we came up with a few unexpected and totally fun date night ideas to really spice things up and are proven to be far less cliché than dinner and a movie (then again, nothing wrong with that date idea!) Check out all our unexpected date ideas below!

1. Couples Cooking Class

Learning to cook something new and different is an exciting feat that you'll both enjoy learning together. Book a sushi class, or learn to bake a fancy dessert, whatever your culinary adventure, let your inner chef shine.

2. Bonfire for two with s’mores

Baby, it’s cold outside. So catch a sunset and plan a romantic + adventurous bonfire with s’mores and hot cocoa. Whether you head to the local beach or decide to camp it out for the night, this little date is sure to heat things up between you and your love. Plus, who doesn’t love some melty delicious s'mores?

4. Skiing or Sledding + Hot Toddies

Hit the slopes for a romantic date you both won’t soon forget! If you’re not into skiing or boarding, check out the local sledding hill (no shame!) then warm up with this classic hot toddy (or two, or three…) after.

5. Visit an Amusement Park

If you’re lucky enough to live near an amusement park that’s open year-round, then take advantage and add a little excitement to your v-day. Ride all the roller coasters, share some colorful cotton candy, eat all the food, and just have the best time ever! You both deserve it.

6. Take a ghost or underground tour in your city

This is probably the last thing you’d expect to do on Valentine's day, but that’s also why it’s one of the best date ideas! If you’re open to things that go bump in the night, then let us recommend this unique date idea...Sure, you might get scared, but you can always snuggle up with your Valentine.

7. Beer or wine tour

With breweries and wineries popping up like daisies these days, you might as well make a date of it and go explore them together. Plan your tour out ahead of time and be sure to check if they have any specials for v-day. Bonus: Pick up a bottle you both love to enjoy later.

8. Mini road trip

We know, Valentine’s day is only one day, but that’s doesn’t mean you can’t have an adventure! After all, couples that explore together, stay together (true story). Some road trip ideas we love: check out a national park, hit the sand dunes, visit a new town, or plan a hike + picnic.

10. Soak in a hot spring

Stress relief and total relaxation are just some of the benefits of soaking in a natural geothermal pool. This is why visiting a hot spring for Valentine's Day should be at the top of your list. While we love hiking into a natural spring, a hot springs resort can offer additional amenities such as couples massages or a place to grab a bite after. So do a little research beforehand to find that perfect soak.
