Every wedding is different, like beautiful snowflakes that have their own signature cocktails and unique traditions. So when we hear back from a bride and/or a groom about their big day we can't help settling in and reading every word! Caroline gave us the skinny on what she loved and what brought tears to either her or her guests eyes!
So keep scrolling, and oh yeah... keep an eye out for what happened while she and her lovely father were doing their traditional father/daughter dance. Don't miss a single detail of this glamorous day, you can find all of their wedding photos in the full gallery thanks to Snap Weddings.
Our color palette was shades of purple as an homage to our Alma Matter where we met, without being overly obvious. We wanted to play with a lot of natural, lush greens, purple tones and whites. Our venue is stark white and absolutely gorgeous. It was the perfect canvas for what we envisioned.
The flowers were expertly pulled together by Kim at Greenlion who created gorgeous feature pieces on the mantel and staircase in our reception venue. It was exactly as I had pictured and it's like she could read my mind! We played with mini succulents in the boutonnieres and on the escort card table and on every place setting, it pulled together our vision so well.
One unique DIY element we really wanted to incorporate were to have framed pictures of all the past marriages of the generations before us - so my parents, his parents, and our both sets of grandparents. We didn't tell our grandparents we were planning this and it made for such a unique and intimate touch.
My favorite moment was walking into our reception venue for the first time as a Mr. & Mrs! Being surrounded by all that love and being able to dance with my new husband was a moment that will stay in my memory forever.
We were very much on the same page with what we wanted: good music, good food, and good friends and family. I come from a large Italian family and Jordan from a large Portuguese family. We live in California but made the decision to have the wedding back on the East Coast to accommodate where most of our family members live. We envisioned a day of love and happiness, and that's exactly what we got!
Food is important in both of our cultures so we made sure to overload guests - from cocktail hour with a raw bar and cheese boards (and a pasta station - my Italian father's idea), to surf and turf dinner, ice cream bar for dessert and late night snacks - the food kept coming (and so did the drinks!)
I also loved my Father/Daughter dance. We tricked everyone and worked with the band to pretend that the lead singer got a cough half way through our special first dance song, Our Wish. He then threw us sunglasses and broke into Uptown Funk to which we did a choreographed dance - all my dad's idea! No one knew and everyone went crazy, it even made my best friend cry because she thought the band really messed up!
