From Mango Studios: When it came to their wedding, Melissa was inspired by her parent’s wedding album that she loved flipping through as a child. Her parents got married at a church and had an intimate, elegant reception in the countryside. It was classic and tasteful, and represented everything a wedding should be in Melissa’s eyes. Finding a countryside venue in downtown Toronto wasn’t an easy task, but Melissa and Georgos knew that the historic Graydon Hall Manor would be a perfect fit the moment they stepped into it.
They tied the knot at Canada’s oldest Greek church, that was filled with soft morning light and looked truly magical in their wedding photos. They continued their day with a beautiful wedding reception at Graydon Hall Manor which was tastefully decorated by Blush & Bloom’s florals.
From the Bride: My grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimers two years ago. The disease has been progressing rapidly over the course of these two years. When we got engaged on January 1st it was really important to my father that we got married within the year. Many of the venues had already been booked, not to mention my husband is Greek and this required an extensive guest list. There were so many logistics to think about people traveling out of town, many people not use to the city of Toronto. I wanted a unique wedding. Finding a venue that could seat over 200 people that wasn’t a hotel or banquet hall was very hard. Especially in such a short time frame.
It wasn’t looking very promising in terms of finding a venue within the year and I was about ready to settle on marrying the next spring. It wouldn’t have been the same for my grandfather, but there wasn’t much we could do. Our wedding planner actually negotiated an extended date at Graydon Hall Manor. October 15th is late in the season in terms of weather. The year before it actually fluke snowed on the 18th. So we were really taking our chances. Inside the Manor only seated 140, which meant we had to use their custom tent and eat dinner on the terrace. This is what I had originally wanted regardless however we couldn’t say what the weather was going to be like. Not to mention the tent came at a extensive additional cost. That really ate into the budget. I wouldn’t have changed it for the world.
The weather was remarkably beautiful. Almost 20 degrees and the ambience was simply beautiful. We were reasonable with all our other costs. Luckily our venue was so beautiful that it didn’t need much decor or additions to have such a beautiful effect. I went with the standard rentals. It gave the appearance of being lavish without having the spend that much money on extra’s. The venue was what truly cost the most.
My florist was incredible. She was very reasonable. We did spend money on the photographer. I chose not to have a videographer. I wanted to remember my day as I saw it through my own eyes, and focused on the photography something that I could really cherish forever. I would say they were above average, but Mango Studio’s I truly believe to be one of the best photography studios. Their work is so professional and flawless. I don’t take myself too seriously and they really captured beautiful moments that were very natural. Without being too specific on the actual cost of the wedding I would have to say that the budget was over $120,000.
