With just three months to spare, Janie and Yoni decided to move their Maine wedding to New Jersey. It wasn't an easy decision, but they decided to focus on what mattered most to them, which was having their friends and family all be able to attend. They shifted to an outdoor venue to keep everyone as safe as possible when the COVID numbers began to climb again. And while it wasn't the wedding that they originally had planned, their amazing team of vendors managed to make it just as grand!

Maine Seasons Events worked with the couple, even after they decided to move the wedding out of state, and managed to keep most of the vendors and source completely new ones where necessary (an almost impossible task on such short notice!). Viburnum Designs was responsible for these gorgeous white and green floral arrangements. Griffin & Griffin Lighting created the hanging green garland that took their tented reception to the next level. Janie and Yoni seriously lucked out being able to score Cobblestone Creek Country Club, an incredibly sought-after venue, just months before their big day. Having met while both working in Israel one summer, Janie and Yoni planned their wedding to be held in Maine at the summer vacation resort of Janie’s childhood. Well into the planning, COVID-19 was still restricting the size of gatherings in Maine, prompting Janie and Yoni to decide to move their wedding to Janie’s hometown of Princeton, NJ. Janie envisioned a big party, surrounded by many family members and friends. Moving to the Cobblestone Creek Country Club and pivoting to have everything outside under tents allowed for the big celebration the couple wanted.

ADAPTING THE PLAN

With only a few months to go until the wedding, plans were recreated, designs adapted and vendors relocated (and some newly sourced) to start from scratch on the new vision and location. The goal for the wedding’s look and feel was “Modern Forest” and Janie had a vision of greenery, lots of neutral textures and colors, and all white and cream flowers. A sailcloth tent with a Barnwood floor, festooned with ample greenery garlands, crystal, and gold chandeliers, with golden canopy lighting set the stage. A mix of upholstered linen and wooden cross-back chairs created visual interest with the round and rectangle tables, draped with real linen flax-colored tablecloths. The centerpieces, a mix of trees with orange blossoms, and low, lush arrangements of cream and white peonies, anemones, orchids, roses, and hydrangea, mixed with abundant candlelight and accents of metallic gold, brought sophistication and elegance to the dinner tables.

An evening rainstorm called the ceremony inside the country club ballroom where the Chuppah was moved and redesigned just in time. Cocktail hour was held in a separate tent, designed as a lounge area with modern mirrored gold bars, woven pendant lights, and greenery accents. As guests entered the wooden-floored path through the forest from cocktails to the dinner tent, they found their seating card affixed to an oversize gilded mirror with wax seal stickers, pressed with the couple’s wedding monogram. Illuminated with tall wooden lanterns, the forest path led to the dinner tent entrance, decorated with live full-size trees, greenery, and draping. A custom dance floor and monogram were surprises for the bride from her mother, as was the live painter secretly hired to paint the couple during their first dance. Guests dined on a beautiful meal, sipped specialty cocktails, and danced and celebrated until midnight. At midnight the party moved inside the club for the after-party until the early hours of the morning.
