Stereotypes just don't fit in with our next couple. Not only was it the Groom that spoke to us about their big day, but he and his new wife were side by side through out the whole planning process! We love an involved Groom! Which is why we cannot get enough of this wine country collaborative wedding. Rain or shine, nothing threw these two love birds off their mission to get married.
Beautifully captured by Shannon Lee Miller Photography, you can see every last detail from this wine country collaborative wedding day by visiting the full gallery here.
Collaborative Bouquet Ceremony
From the Groom: One of our favorite additions to the wedding ceremony was a collaborative bouquet. As Jessie started out with 1 flower walking down the aisle, she would be handed multiple flowers from special friends and family members through the crowd, where she would eventually get the last flower from her maid of honor (and identical twin sister), who would then tie them together in her creative bouquet.
Rain Rain Go Away
Now they say rain on your wedding is a sign of good luck, which I guess is a good thing in our case. Mid way through our ceremony, the rain started coming….and coming down hard!!
Despite being upset with it, it actually ended up creating quite the scene with lots of laughs and amazing pictures. We ended up getting some really special pictures of us, our guests, and wedding party all grabbing chairs and heading into the barn to finish the ceremony.
Wedding Team Work
We both welcomed the opportunity to work together as a team in planning, collaborating, making decisions on decor, construction, and vendors along the way. Most guys tend not to be involved in the wedding process, but we took pride in supporting each other along the planning process and ultimately creating a one of a kind wedding day geared towards “us”.
Photo Ops & Temporary Tats
As the evening progressed into the Reception, we really let loose and experienced the intricate personal touches that we had created over the past ten months of planning. Mike, the groom, being the photographer that he is, gave the guests the opportunity for ample photo ops through the evening and in different locations with the Polaroid Guestbook and the homemade Photo Booth.
We had our custom logo, designed by Kate at (Petal and Print), made into tattoos that our guests could get creative with. Unsure how this would pan out, it ended up being such a fun personal touch that got everyone laughing and involved
Every wedding at needs a confetti drop!
We love the photo booth back drop. Using an assortment of gain fans against a backdrop, they created one fabulous photo-booth backdrop.
We "Donut" Need A Wedding Cake
Lastly we had a few extra fun surprises for the guests by providing a Donut Food truck (Carpe Donut) for dessert, rather than the traditional cake and cutting ceremony. Guests could wander out through the night and get some fresh donuts, coffee, lemonade, and enjoy the friendly service that Carpe Donut provided.
Ferris Bueller Says It Best
Our advice for couples: Hmmmm…..please excuse the cheesy quote, but having a wedding is very much like the famous Ferris Buellers Day Off quote…”Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
