The famous Youtube darlings, Megan & Whitney of “What Wegan Did Next” finally said their “I do’s” and had one seriously glam wedding at the Avalon in sunny Palm Springs, California. With the help of COJ Events, their feminine and chic vision came together in blush, pink and gold for one glamorous affair to celebrate their forever together with their nearest and dearest in attendance.

From wedding planner Cathy, of COJ Events: We immediately fell in love with Megan Evans & Whitney Bacon when we started chatting on Skype to plan their wedding. Their love for each other was obvious over the airwaves and we knew their wedding was going to be incredible. After meeting in London a few months later, we knew we had found lifelong friends and family! Based outside of London, the British (Megan) and American (Whitney) couple are Social media darlings known as “Wegan" for their YouTube Channel and blog "What Wegan Did Next" focusing on fem lesbian issues.

Megan & Whitney are passionate about what they do, and about their relationship with each other, and it was a dream to create a magical evening for them at the Avalon Palm Springs! Beautiful decor by Maggie Jensen Florals including pink roses, shimmering gold runners, lots of candles and chandeliers lent a romantic vibe to the long tables on the Avalon lawn. After heartfelt toasts and an incredible meal, guests danced till midnight when the bridal party - including brides and mothers - wound up in the pool!

Finding the perfect venue

From the Brides: Originally we were looking at venues in the UK but we liked nothing and then when we stayed at the Avalon in Palm Springs, we fell in love with the vibe of PS and saw a wedding being set up at the Avalon and both felt so jealous!!.. It didn't dawn on us to hold our wedding here until a few weeks later. We are still 100% happy we made this choice. We went for a really feminine and chic look for our wedding. One that would make it obvious it’s ‘Wegan’s’ wedding, full of love & I think we pulled that off! We had lots of blush pink, with gold accents.

Saying "Yes" to the dresses

We had a long, rollercoaster ride to get to the point where we found the right dresses for our wedding! We filmed for Say Yes To The dress UK (& we were the first lesbian couple to appear on the show). We decided that we wanted to be kept separate so that our dresses would be a surprise on the day. We both ended up saying ‘yes’ to the dress. They blindfolded us and put us next to each other so that our bride tribe could see!… Whitney decided to put her deposit on her dress a couple days later and me, Megan being the indecisive one, wanted to keep looking.

Around 20 dresses later, I still wasn't sure if I had found ‘the one’! Whitney had started coming with me to try on dresses and her opinion mattered the most. Whitney showed Megan a picture of her dress, and we both weren’t sure it was the right fit for our Palm Springs wedding. (It had 7 layers!!) I went back to the bridal boutique (Confetti & Lace) where we filmed for SYTTD to see the same consultant, Zoe. Zoe was determined to finally find me a dress and put me in lots of dresses. I fell in love with Dando London dresses and managed to find ‘the one’! I finally found a dress that would accentuate my curves, have a pretty back and fit into a Palm Springs vibe wedding. I added to the dress by adding a long train that had palm leaves on and requested some glitzy gems be added to my dress to give it a bit more of a Hollywood glamour vibe. The dress looked absolutely perfect when it came to my fitting, and the designer Christine Dando has decided that she’ll add these gems going forward!

Our wedding was so romantic and wonderful, it was everything we hoped for & more. The highlight was bringing both our family and friends from the UK and USA altogether and having THE most fun time! Everyone commented how it had been the most beautiful and fun wedding they had ever been to. That makes our hearts so full of joy!
