Colorado University Boulder college sweethearts Genevieve and Gabe, dreamed of a timeless, modern black-and-white wedding that incorporated pieces of their personality along the way. The bride and groom loved a clean, Scandinavian look, but with added modern elements and plenty of natural roses and greenery as a nod to their love of plants. Gian Events was there to help them accomplish this at every step of the way. Considered a “destination” spot on the island of San Juan in Washington, Roche Harbor was a stunning, historic, seaside resort that proved to be the perfect location for this long-weekend event to come to life!

A Baltimore wedding that put a modern spin on black and white
Captured on camera by The Manchiks, the couple's wedding party wore all black, but with plenty of free rein to create their own unique takes on the dress code.
The ceremony was an all-white garden party courtesy of Callarose & Co., complete with over 1,000 white roses lining the aisle and in the chuppah. This was revealed to the bride for the first time as she walked down the aisle to her now-husband, Gabe!
Robinson Creative House designed a one-of-a-kind G&G monogram that was included throughout the wedding. There were two custom bar fronts, the first with G&G monogrammed napkins, and even a sketch of the bride and groom's two fur babies. The second was a custom cigar bar. Gian Events brought in the groom’s favorite cigars wrapped in the G&G monogram for guests to indulge in while enjoying a stunning sunset on the patio.
Incredible signage vendor, On the Wall Design Studio, created a custom 12-foot champagne wall, complete with the G&G monogram. The couple and their planner wanted this wall to be repurposed later in the evening for a donut wall, a favorite for the bride! It came to life using dozens of donuts from Roche Harbor’s famous Lime Kiln Cafe.
The reception was moodier, incorporating a design that complemented the existing wood floors and exposed beams - black was the perfect contrast. Gorgeous rattan chandeliers by Light Smiths, matte stoneware chargers, and matte black circular menus were some of our favorite details. Additionally, dark greenery hung from the beams above three king’s tables that were topped with black taper candles and white rose floral arrangements, bringing a truly romantic feel.
"The planning process was fantastic. The Gian Events team is incredible in so many ways, they truly made us feel like we were their only clients. Throughout the planning process, they listened to our wants and needs and gave us so much valuable insight and guidance. The entire team is extremely detail oriented and I wish they could project manage our lives! Gabe and I both work in tech and value organization, working with Gian was like partnering with the best Project Manager I have ever worked with. Additionally, the team's eye for design was second to none!"
