Gieselle & Juan’s destination Mexico wedding was a colorful fiesta filled with love and magic. Mishka Designs did an amazing job incorporating vibrant colors and local artisan details, including custom maraca favors for guests.
Of course, no fiesta is complete without a fun piñata for the reception! Everything came together beautifully for their big day, you’ll definitely want to check out the full gallery for more must-see moments captured by Taryn Baxter.
From Mishka Designs: Gieselle & Juan both wanted slightly different aesthetics for the wedding - Gieselle wanted a more palapa party feel and Juan wanted a bit more of an elegant touch, plus wanted to tie-in a bit of his Ecuadorian culture. They both had a strong attention to details and loved hand-crafted elements. Which is something we love to do!
We wanted to incorporate the color, feel and texture of Mexico but combine it with cleaner lines, geometric details and a more modern feel. We hand painted all the signage in the wedding and then the details flowed from there - from hand made paper pom poms to the hand painted place cards and table markers, not to mention maracas and piñata all done by local artisans. Juan's mother brought some delicacies from Ecuador which were a huge hit and we displayed them on cake stands around the bar.
I wanted to make sure that we used the ceremony circle arch more than once since it took us quite a while to decorate it and was so ethereal, so, after the ceremony, we displayed the cake there on a vintage looking wood table. The maracas, piñata and the cake are some of my favorite details (and the cake tasted delicious too - this particular region in Mexico has the best pastry chef!).
