A Proposal & The Perfect Venue
From the Bride: Kenneth proposed in Boracay, Philippines on his Birthday, so it took me completely by surprise! It was a beautiful moment as he asked me to be his wife at a private beach against the sunset.
We decided to hold a destination wedding as we loved the idea of having our closest friends and family with us over a weekend celebrating our special day. We had shortlisted both Bali and Phuket but eventually set our heart on Phuket when we found our dream venue. I loved the rustic chic theme and found plenty of references on Pinterest.
A Little Friendly Advice
Together with our wedding planner, The Bridal Planner, we came up with decoration ideas for the wedding which they eventually executed so well. It was everything I had imagined it to be. The wedding itself was a dream come true. We are so grateful to our friends and family for flying in from around the world to be a part of our wedding.
Don't try to handle everything! Make sure you've selected a person-in-charge for each duty and that you've passed everything to the appropriate people/wedding planner before the actual day!
Maybe it's just me but I forgot the wooden fans we had prepared for our guests for the ceremony in case it was too hot! Thankfully, there was a nice breeze on the day. Also, I forgot the props for the game we were going to play during dinner so my sister had to rush back to our villa halfway through the dinner to grab them!
Don't Forget To Have Fun
We had so much fun during the dinner reception with our guests in an intimate setting. We played table games with our guests, I surprised Kenneth with a song I wrote for him, and he surprised me (and caused an incredible amount of laughter amongst all our guests) by performing a boyband song with his groomsmen, complete with hand actions and vocal harmonies (maybe not the most in pitch though!) The fireworks and Kom Loy (fire lanterns) made our wedding even more magical! Looking back, it really was the perfect day, where I married my Best Friend surrounded by our nearest and dearest.
