With a wedding day sitting at 100 degrees, warm and sunny might be a bit of an understatement; But this do it yourself bride made sure that her Colony 29 big day in Palm Springs was one she and her new husband wouldn't soon forget! With a bit of a boho hipster vibe, their late afternoon wedding ceremony took place in front of a deconstructed teepee while the reception filled guests stomachs with build your own pulled pork sandwiches and donuts. Honestly this wedding sounds absolutely heavenly!

From D. Lillian Photography: "Is it okay if I bring smoke bombs?" was one of my favorite questions a bride has ever asked me, weeks leading up to Chelsea and Anthony's Palm Springs wedding. Seeing this Palm Springs wedding venue for the first time was like touring a backlot of a movie set in Mexico, or some other destination that you would vacation off to. The juxtaposition between the array of botanical gardens and the panoramic canyon views were so visually stunning, that the sweltering 100 degree desert heat barely served as a distraction.
From the Bride: A piece of advice that I took to heart when it was given to me, was to remember, no matter what, it was MY day. There are so many moving parts that go into planning a wedding. It can be easy to get caught up in the "would everyone else like this?" kind of situations. At the end of the day, it needs to reflect you and your partner above all else. Everyone is there to celebrate your love and if you're happy, everyone will have fun.
It was an ALMOST disaster! It was about 100 degrees in Palm Springs the day we got married. We had water bottles during the pre-ceremony and ceremony for the guests, which needed to be put on ice. We also obviously had water at dinner and throughout the reception, in which ice also played a key role. We had ordered PLENTY of ice to be delivered to the wedding venue and with plenty of time to get the water bottles chilled before guests started arriving. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but it was 3:30pm and the ice STILL hadn't arrived! Our guests were set to arrive between 4-4:30. The ice showed up just in the nick of time! By 4pm, the ice truck arrived, in which case my husband, all the groomsmen, and any other helping hands that were there, had to unload hundreds of pounds of ice! Somehow it all got done and the ice truck was on it's way out as the first shuttle of guests arrived. Crisis averted.
