While Rebecca and Greg were both originally from the East Coast, their love story unfolded in Los Angeles, so it was only natural that they get married in LA. The couple looked at thirty venues before saying "I do" to Quail Ranch in Simi Valley. The historic ranch house, built in 1933, served as the focal point for three dreamy outdoor spaces. What finally sold the couple? The level of care and attention to detail that host Joanne put into the ranch and event space. A bride-designed invitation suite

The bride designed the wedding invitations to be playful, modern, and a bit retro, while still reflecting the colors of the day (the LA sunset). While both the bride and groom are Jewish, neither felt it was meaningful for them to have their Hebrew names on the invitation. Instead, Rebecca added pomegranates, a symbol of love and fertility in Judaism.

A sweet wedding morning surprise

Rebecca surprised Greg the morning of their wedding with a bunch of puppies in a nearby park. All Greg knew was that he had to show up at a park at 10 a.m., and lo and behold, there were six adorable tail-wagging puppies awaiting his arrival and ready to play! It was such a great way to start off the wedding day stress-free.

Taking inspiration from sunsets and fun

The inspiration behind Rebecca and Greg's day was playful fun, and Invited Planning was the perfect help in pulling this vibe together. The couple loves watching the sunset, and because of the colors in LA sunsets, pink became one of Rebecca's favorite colors. This playful pink vibe became the foundation for every part of their wedding day design, including florals by Shindig Chic.

Incorporating ceremony symbolism

One of Rebecca's favorite moments of the day was Havdalah. Havdalah is a Jewish ceremony that concludes the Shabbat and welcomes the new week. During this pre-ceremony with their immediate family and the wedding party, the service involved symbolic elements like wine, spices, and a multi-wicked candle. It was a sensory-rich tradition that signified the transition from rest to daily responsibilities.

An avocado and citrus orchard venue

“Bridal” color palettes and floral arrangements never appealed to Rebecca, which let her lean into the fact that Quail Ranch continues to be a working avocado and citrus orchard. Rebecca and Greg incorporated the concept by utilizing a fruit theme throughout the day through signage by Megan Roy and the tablescapes by Angelena of Invited Planning. This added a fresh and natural element and promoted the use of bright colors.

A DIY photo seating chart

Greg tracked down photos of every single guest and, alongside Rebecca, worked with Angelena to design a custom guest welcome board seating chart so that all the guests in attendance could see their photos on the wall. Each 4x4 photo could easily be pulled off the wall by the guests, and on the back of the image was the corresponding table number. As a nod to the iconic line of Mean Girls, the couple wrote “You Can Sit With Us.”

DIY painted table numbers

Rebecca decided to paint their table numbers herself using sponges and a sunset color palette (pink, red, orange, yellow, white) to mimic the Los Angeles sky at sunset. Each table number is different, and it was one of her favorite details of their wedding design because it was so personal!

Creating your own dance mixes

Some of the couple's favorite moments from the ceremony were when Greg worked with the DJ Seth Vital to mix two different renditions of the hora together for an epic ten-minute sweaty dance-fest that was a fun way to kick off the dancing for the evening. The couple then sat for a moment at their sweetheart table to look out at all the guests enjoying themselves as the sun was setting so they could make sure to remember this moment for many years to come.

After-the-fact advice from the bride

"Make sure to live in the moment and to take care of yourself mentally and physically. Make sure to pause and enjoy the process, and don't forget to be open-minded. Not everything will go exactly as planned, but that's ok! Not everything has to look exactly the way everyone else does it, and that's also ok!

It's wonderful to spend time on elements of the wedding that are most meaningful to you, but if you find yourself Googling napkins for hours on end and started to get upset, abort mission! Most importantly, make sure to have a comfortable pair of shoes on hand for the reception so that it's easier to tear up the dance floor."
