From the Bride:Someone once asked me what title I would give our wedding day if it were a book. The answer evaded me till after the day was said and done: “Present Love Flowering Through The Past.”
My knack for vintage finds started long before my bridal days but blossomed into its brightest beauty as the wedding plans began. The dream was to present our love through the age-old eye of the 1940s. Nestled in the valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains we call home, we discovered The Wild Hare, a renovated 1930s home full of history and perfect for our theme.
Teacups, old books, picture frames and doilies flavored the halls of the longstanding home with a unique sweetness found only in the glory days of Billie Holiday and Glen Miller. Come the big event, all our hard work and hand-touched details truly made the vision spring to life revealing our dedication, passion, and commitment toward the glorious decision to say “I do, I did, and I will.”
In an effort to be budget friendly and uniquely personal, I coxed my darling maid of honor into hand making everything (and I do mean everything!). We frequented thrift shops like grocery stores and spent hours at Michael's brainstorming in the isles. Our wedding palette consisted of soft sea foam green and blush pink pastels complimented by lacey creams and dove greys.

If I wrote a letter to my bride-self and could give her stress-eliminating, time-cutting, sanity-keeping advice I'd tell her this:
1.) When people offer help, take them up on it! Don't let your perfectionism get in the way of letting people craft with you. In the end, every set of extra supporting hands means one less project to stress you out.
2.) Don't let Pinterest steal your soul! You can't do every single crafty thing you see. Pick out your absolute favorite ideas and set a limit on how many tasks you'll take on. Then tweak them to make them quick and simple and YOU. There just isn't enough time and money to do every tiny detail.
3.) There are stages of wedding planning: ecstatic excitement --> blog/pinterest mania --> "this is so fun, I'm a bride!" craft/supply shopping --> "did I really just spend 125 hours making save-the-dates?" --> "I don't think I'll ever craft again!" --> "Honey... I think we should just forget the planning and elope...". When you get to this stage stop right here. Take a deep breath, go out with your girlfriends and make a point NOT to talk about anything wedding related, go love on your soon-to-be, and return refreshed. All the stress and planning is definitely worth it come the wedding day, so don't let yourself become a bridezilla-hormonal-emotional mess when you hit the "forget planning, let's just elope" stage.
4.) Remember that the wedding is about you and your future husband, NOT your guests. This is the most essential thing to always remember. The guests are your loved ones, so yes, they are important. But almost everything you do in your planning is for the guests, and it will become deeply overwhelming if you obsess over pleasing them. Your guests are there for YOU and your GROOM.
5.) Get comfortable shoes! Whether gorgeous heels or spunky flats, you have to be in them ALL day and/or ALL night. Happy feet = Happy Bride.
6.) Relish your bridehood. It doesn't last forever and its such a beautiful and special time in your life. It can be stressful, yes, but its a stress that strengthens you as a woman before your new journey into marriage.
