From the Bride: The contemporary ceremony included several love and religious readings by the chief of ceremony, a poem by the groom's sister, and personal messages from both the bride and groom to each other.
However, the highlight of the ceremony, was the dedication of the historic and timeless doors. The doors which formed the backdrop for the ceremony, were from Michaela's grandparent's house, and represented a gateway for those relatives who could not be there physically, were there spiritually, to share in Rob and Michaela's special day.
The Cocktail hour took place in the patio & garden area, which was tastefully adorned with rustic couches and patio furniture. Passed hors d'oeuvres were served to the guests along with the couple's signature drink, The Smalletto, their personal take on a summer shandy. Guests also were treated to a bruschetta and mozzarella bar while the string quartet played Beatles' cover songs.
As cocktail hour ended, guests were directed from the garden area up to the rustic barn where the reception took place. Along the way, guests found their table assignments by selecting the "Key to their Seat" which hung from another set of family doors up near the barn. The Keys, which had the guests name and table number on them, also doubled as a bottle opener and party favor.
