For their chic golf club wedding at Debordieu Club, this South Carolina couple honored the traditions that spoke to them and ditched the ones that didn't, and the result–a vibrant, heartfelt celebration and a whole lot of fun! And yes, the bride and groom looked FANTASTIC, but we absolutely have to gush for a sec about how well-dressed these guests were. We have to wonder, did the couple include a dress code or mood board with the invites? However they did it, we're happy they did! The Couple Drove Off in a Golf Cart at their NJ Country Club Wedding
William and Hannah met in 2018 when Hannah was a senior at the College of Charleston, and William was a third-year med student at MUSC. Hannah's sorority house mom, who was in William's med school class, introduced them on a night out. Although they didn’t stay in touch immediately, Charleston’s small size led them to cross paths again a few months later. In 2020, William completed med school and matched into a residency in Columbia, SC. Hannah joined him there after being accepted into PA school at USC. They managed a few months of long-distance before moving back to Charleston. In April 2023 William proposed. His family came under the pretense of visiting for the Bridge Run, echoing their initial meeting four years earlier. After the run, they had lunch, and William proposed on a dock at Shem Creek. Despite it being April Fool’s Day, William assured Hannah that it was not a joke. They celebrated with a gathering at Hannah’s parents' house with their closest friends and family.
Guests were greeted with adorable illustrated wedding programs that featured a lovely poem outlining everything that was to come.
In true Southern style, the ladies sipped champagne on the porch as they lounged in matching pajamas and took turns getting glammed up for the big day.
The bride looked modern and elegant in a crisp crepe gown with a high neckline and dramatic 3-D lace detailing on the shoulders and the illusion back. The groom was timeless in a black tuxedo, complete with black bowtie.
We've seen mix-and-match bridesmaids before, but we love just how far these bridesmaids took it. They definitely understood the assignment, each sporting a different colored voluminous maxi dress for the occasion.
Hannah wore a family necklace from the 1860s, a tradition for the women in her family. The necklace was originally a wedding gift to her great-great-great-grandmother, Georgia Hannah Bryan, after whom Hannah is named.
William's Jewish heritage was honored with traditions such as the hora, breaking of the glass, and reading the seven Jewish blessings.
For their wedding, Hannah and William wanted to ensure everyone had a great time from the start. They provided Miller High Life ponies, known as "the champagne of beer," alongside champagne to kick off the celebration. Instead of a traditional cake, they served Jeni’s ice cream, reflecting their shared love for the treat.
The market basket floral trend is gaining steam and we hope it's here to stay. Not only is it a more economical option when it comes to floral styling, it just looks so dang cute! We love that Willow Event Designs used a variety of wicker baskets to add depth to this design for the ceremony.
We don't often feature wedding guests, but for this wedding, there were just TOO MANY well-dressed guests that they simply needed their own feature. From bright green frocks to billowing pink pleated numbers, this crowd got the memo and we're in LOVE!
After the ceremony, guests made their way to a gorgeous outdoor tented reception. Designed by Stunning and Brilliant Events, modern gold chandeliers and pastel tapered candles lit the space as the sun ducked below the horizon. Pastel blooms in bud vases added a rainbow of color to each table.
Their first dance was to "Music for a Sushi Restaurant" by Harry Styles. The two attended a Harry Styles concert in London and share a love for sushi, so it made for a fun and personal choice for their first dance.
William’s passion for fixing up golf carts was showcased in their wedding getaway: they departed in a club car golf cart, and they handed out custom hats with "Debordieu Cruising Club" to guests, who eagerly tried to buy them from each other.
