Vibrant Orange, Red and Gold Indian Wedding in Dallas

Indian Wedding at Hotel Intercontinental in Dallas Mona and Anand traveled from New York City (where Anand proposed on a stoop in West Village) to Dallas to get married and celebrate with good friends and treasured family. The sweet couple were all smiles and excitement during their Jainist and Muslim ceremonies, and had such a great time partying at their reception with an amazing live DJ Jay Dahbi, also from NYC. It was a real joy to experience Mona and Anan’s love for one another and the support of their families.

The bride welcomes and greets her groom by putting a flower garland around his neck (Jai Mala, also called Var Mala). This is a big moment in the Hindu ceremony because it is the first ritual that signifies that the bride accepts the groom as her husband.

The saptapadi: Seven Betel nuts (Sopari) are placed before the bride and groom. The Sapta Padi (or the seven vows for married life) are then recited by the couple while the groom helps the bride touch seven betel nuts with her right toe. Through these vows, the bride and groom seek each others support to make their married life a successful and happy one.
