their love story

wedding reception couples photo ideas

We were set up by mutual friends and first met in Vermont at Marissa's family cabin. We were quickly drawn to each other and after a year of dating long-distance (Boston to NYC), we decided to move to California together. We live by the beach with our dog, Okemo, as we both love the outdoors and being in the water. The beach is where Joe proposed!

vermont wedding venues

We loved every part of our wedding weekend, especially introducing Joe's friends and family from Indiana to the magic that is Vermont in the fall. Thanks to Sara Judith Events, everything was perfect–the setting, the weather, the foliage, and Okemo even walked down the aisle!

In the cozy bridal suite at Equinox Golf Resort & Spa, Marissa and Joe went their separate ways to prep with their wedding parties. Marissa and her girls lounged in comfy PJs as they took in the crisp Vermont air on the balcony. Then, it was time to get dressed!

the details

ski themed escort display for wedding

Personalization of the little details is what will make your wedding unique. It's my favorite part of designing because I get to learn more about my couples and truly make the day theirs! Marissa and Joe are avid skiers, so we incorporated skiing into the seating chart since every guest would see it. We used die-cut skis placed in faux snow as the escort cards for guests to find their slope! The couple opted for a gorgeous coffee table book on skiing around the world as their guest book that they can display in their living room!

For the big day, Marissa selected an elegant off-the-shoulder satin gown with long graceful sleeves. She paired the look with a pearl-embellished veil and a romantic updo. Her bridesmaids wore mix-and-match dresses in varying shades of sage and evergreen. If you're looking for bridesmaid dress inspo–ladies, this is how it's done! Joe wore a classic black tux and his groomsmen sported black suits with matching black bow ties.

We loved taking pictures by the lake together with Mt. Equinox as our backdrop. We got to enjoy this quiet time after our ceremony and before the party started! We highly recommend taking time away after the ceremony to soak in the fact you just got married!

the reception

white ballroom reception

After the ceremony at Christ Our Savior Parish, the group made their way back to Equinox Golf Resort & Spa for the reception. The ballroom was aglow with the flicker of candlelight as guests took their seats for the reception. At each place setting awaited the perfect Vermont wedding favor, maple syrup! Timeless monochromatic floral arrangements by A Clover and One Bee adorned each of the tables. We love how they varied the height of the arrangements and incorporated ferns as greenery to give them a natural feel.

The couple decided on a simple, three-tier buttercream wedding cake embellished with natural flowers and greenery in fall shades. They also snuck in another cute nod to their fur babies.
