This couple’s love story begins in London, where Shannon moved after graduating. While there, she secured a position as a waitress at a local restaurant. As fate would have it, Joshua’s housemate owned that restaurant, and it was only a matter of time before the two found themselves in a booth after closing, talking the night away. A few years later, the two moved to L.A. to begin a new life together in the states. They set off for a trip together in a small town outside Napa, where they were engaged during a wine tour.
Taking inspiration from their own Irish and English cultures, this wedding displays Celtic traditions in a fairy glen fantasy come to life. Nature feels bountiful, as tables were decorated in moss, ferns, and earthy florals. Joshua constructed a natural grapevine archway for the ceremony. Trees burst through the reception floor, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy. Shannon’s bell-sleeve gown was delicately scattered in three-dimensional florals and sprinkled in pastels. A whimsical floral hair vine and veil pair with her glittering dress making it feel so fairy-chic. Incorporating many Celtic traditions was important for the couple, as they shared a mead ceremony with their guests. Guests were also encouraged to personalize their own bags of confetti with rose petals and lavender grown from Shannon’s parents' garden.
Their wedding day advice is perfect for couples wanting to be unique. "Start by thinking about what you’d be most happy to feel or hear guests say when reminiscing about your wedding. For us, we cared less about our loved ones saying, “That’s so amazing. I’m going to incorporate that exact same thing at my wedding!” and more about hearing, “Wow, this wedding was so uniquely and completely Josh and Shannon.” Our goal was for each moment to feel like our glass slipper: the perfect fit for who we are and our eight-year journey as a couple."
