This couple wanted to get married under the sea–the planner delivered
For their big day, this couple dreamed of getting married under the sea. Blue Skies Events was all for the challenge and together they crafted one of the most unique themed weddings we've come across with an aquarium as their backdrop! There was even a penguin present for the ceremony–and he was born dressed for the occasion. the vision: under the sea
It all started over 15 years ago when Danielle "stole" Alec's backpack in high school and made him chase her down the hallway. From med school to deployments in Iraq, adopting rescue animals, and nearly two decades together, they had their dream wedding "underwater" at the Florida Aquarium! Their ceremony was a truly unique experience with a huge undersea guest list (including sharks and stingrays).
the stationery
Muted shades of blue and gilded accents graced the invitation suite as a subtle nod to the nautical theme. Their stationer also crafted a unique wedding announcement for them, styled like a newspaper, outlining all of the major milestones in their love story.
getting ready
Awash with natural light, Danielle was glowing as she lounged in her bridal suite and prepped for the big day. She was serving all the bridal vibes in a pearl-beaded tulle robe.
the fashion
Their wedding party included two bridesmen and everyone wore unique attire to match their personality in a deep-sea-inspired color palette. Groomsmen selected from a mix of underwater brooches for their suits. The groom wore a custom tux that he had made in a deep eggplant tone. The bride had a stunning gown from Martina Liana with a removable overskirt and added "jellyfish" sleeves!
audio guest book
Audio guest books have been trending for a moment now and we're so happy to see companies expanding their rental options so couples can seamlessly incorporate the experience into the overall wedding design. A white phone booth, glowing with neon light, beckoned guests to pick up the receiver on the chartreuse vintage phone and leave the couple a heartfelt voice message.
the entertainment
More than just a wedding, the couple wanted their big day to be all about everyone having an unforgettable time together.
They incorporated a lot of color and interactive elements for their guests, like live caricature artists, a tattoo station, an aerialist, and a phone booth audio guest book!
