In all things, there is a way to find the goodness and kindness that persists throughout. 2020 has been a year of trial and tribulation, but blessings abound if you know where and how to find them. Regardless of the surrounding circumstances, it has been my experience that all couples planning their wedding have two things in common: wanting to be married to the love of their life and wanting to profess their commitment in the presence of loved ones. Although the global pandemic and political climate have made this challenging, it has also pushed us as a culture to re-evaluate and value the most critical aspects of this most special tradition.
For Joselle and Meredith, Eden Rift, the oldest vineyard on the California coast and home to some of the most incredible estate-grown wine available was the ideal location for this San Francisco couple to feel a world away from The City while still being close enough for guests to attend.
When preparing for this micro-wedding, Kaitlin with Pocketful Of Plans, Iz Cinemas and I focused the design on the changing of seasons at the winery. Given the couple’s hope for the future for the evolving pandemic battle and political turnover, focusing on the natural progression of change at the winery would bring a sense of calm and understanding to all who attended while maintaining warmth and intimacy via a table setting surrounded by candles under the stars and among the vines.
As a same-sex couple, it was paramount to ensure that the attire represented both of their styles and personality. Joselle, a personal trainer, chose a feminine cropped suit with a complementary bodysuit to match the elegance and intricacy of Meredith’s Enzoani Blue Gown from Epiphany Boutique, Glamology Beauty Lounge and J Faith Beauty enhanced the couple’s natural beauty with a radiant and warm approach.
Prior to the ceremony, the guests relaxed while sipping Eden Rift Chardonnay in the shaded wine garden at the main house while seated on vintage lounge furniture provided by One True Love Vintage Rentals. For the ceremony, Fleurs Du Soleil created a stunning site in front of the epic wooden doors that are absolutely iconic of this historic winery. Fantastic, elevated florals caught the eyes of the intimate gathering.
After the ceremony, the reception commenced under intimate lighting provided by Belmont Entertainment intertwined with natural vines at a breathtaking spot on the grounds. The tablescape was designed by Abbey Party Rents with linens from La Tavola. Guests were welcomed with papers created by Heart Paper Soul meant to embrace the unique venue accents and the delicious Italian meal by mixing earthy elements with feminine accents. The evening concluded with a beautiful cake by Tart + Tin that subtly incorporated fall colors with ruffles that echoed the rolling golden vineyard hills.
