This timeless black and white wedding was just edgy enough without being too conventional or too trendy. Carla was in love with black and white stripes and wanted to use an eclectic mix of vessels on her tables but liked the garden feel of greenery, ivory and soft peach and hints of coral and gold. The day was designed to accent the venue and incorporate loads of candlelight to cast that warm glow as the evening went on. A local beach cafe and gelato made for a perfect first date and from then on, it was history. Our relationship started out as a friendship where we were able to be completely goofy and ourselves without that pressure of dating. You hear this a lot, but we really, really mean it. What we have is something rare and extraordinary. When you can say you still get butterflies, still say thank you, still get so happy...and sometimes mad...in your relationship, you know you're right where you need to be. After 5 years together, taking that next step was truly an amazing experience. As all brides and grooms know, time flies and the journey of planning a wedding, as well as "the big day", flash before your eyes. Our biggest piece of advice, SOAK IT ALL IN!
We feel like we were just picking out colors and now the day has come and gone. Speaking of colors, where did we come up with our color scheme you ask? Well, most important for the bride was something timeless. We want to look back and not think, "1980 called, they want their puffy sleeves back." So, black and gold it was. We couldn't go wrong with those neutrals. As for some color, being a spring wedding, we felt corals and peaches complimented the colors and patterns we were working with. You see, Pinterest will become your very best friend. After seeing a few idea boards with black and white stripes, we were sold.
The flowers really brought in a lot of the color, as well as the bridesmaid dresses. As far as the feel of the wedding, we wanted to lend to the atmosphere at our reception venue, The Oxford Exchange. The OE is so timeless, unique with vintage and stylish flare. Our tables were all different; bringing in vintage books of varying colors, vintage candle sticks with lots of candle light and lots of mercury glass gave the dinner area such a romantic and fun atmosphere. The black and white stripes, as well as polka dots, were used throughout the wedding including the dessert bar, florals and paper goods. In conclusion, have fun with it, take it all in and enjoy the experience. We wish you all the best on your wedding journey. Happy planning!
