Abby and Devin had a beautiful and intimate backyard wedding In Perth, Ontario. Abby is an artist and was able to use her talents to DIY so much of the day, including all the signs where she was able to incorporated their nicknames for each other, Rabbit and Bear.
They had their first look in a forest with installation art where we took photos through a giant camera obscura (those are the blurry images in the field) and had their ceremony in their friend's backyard where their close friend was the officiant, making for a meaningful and emotional ceremony.
Abby and Devin also set up a "family tree" where they had photos from their parents' and grandparents' weddings and had childhood photos of them designating the women's and men's outhouses!
From the Bride: What a WILD day! So much love, so much happiness. Every little detail was curated to fit our lives and our story. I was a little nervous that getting married young on a budget would mean we wouldn't get the wedding we've always dreamt of, but maybe it actually gave us the advantage of doing whatever we wanted and being somewhat carefree. Looking back I couldn't think of anything we'd do differently; we ate LOTS of great food, danced to all our favourite music, wore what we wanted, and had a beautifully personal ceremony that fit our relationship. Plus the weather was AMAZING!
If we have to sum the wedding up in a couple of words, it would definitely be whimsically quirky. Being the super thrifty person I am, the majority of the wedding was either made by us or found in thrift shops. We made the majority of the things; the dance floor, tie dyed all the napkins, the natural bug spray, and we even made the harvest tables. I also made all of the signs and hand-wove all of the macrame plant hangers. We had so much fun creating stuff leading up to the day, that when we finally got to the wedding it was just a big celebration (and it was so rewarding!)
