This Is How Two Florists Say I Do
For Florists, Jessica and Alessio, love sprouted, matured and bloomed into a full-fledged and might we say stunning wedding day. Located at the Botanical Garden in Nashville, at the pinnacle of Springtime bloom, you are going to lose your mind when you see how effortlessly gorgeous this whole event was!

An Intimate Garden Wedding
The vision for our wedding centered around Italy. We wanted it to be a blending of our two cultures, but we wanted the overall feeling to remind our guests of a lush garden in the heart of the Italian countryside. Growing up in Nashville, I have always loved the gardens at Cheekwood and Alessio agreed it would be the perfect location for our wedding. There are so many different gardens on the grounds and since we decided to get married in March, we happened to have our wedding right in the middle of "Cheekwood in Bloom" which is their Spring festival when thousands of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and blooming trees blanket the property. It was stunning. Not only did the grounds remind us of Italy, but the venue was also very fitting since it is a botanical garden. Alessio and I had our first date at the botanical garden in New Orleans, LA! It was like coming full circle.
We wanted the style of our wedding to feel very formal and elegant while still being intimate. We decided to keep our guest list to just 50 people. We wanted it to be a beautiful and memorable day for family and close friends. The stately architecture and peaceful setting of Cheekwood already set the mood for the event, but we played up the elegance with a violin and classical guitar duo for Ceremony and Reception, as well as a mixture of hors d'oeuvres created by Chef's Market that gave a nod to Nashville, Italy and also New Orleans. We had Nashville hot chicken cones and biscuits, Italian cheeses and fruits, fig and goat cheese flatbread, shrimp and grits and more. We also served Prosecco in old-fashioned saucer glasses at the bar so that everyone could have that little flair of Italy.
Two Florist & The Flowers
There was never any question of whether or not we would do our own flowers. Since it's what we do together every day, we couldn't possibly give up the opportunity to work on our own flowers together for our wedding day. (This is not something we would recommend to other couples though unless you have a lot of experience haha!) Because floral design is such a central part of our lives together, we asked our incredible photographer, Rebecca Denton, to arrive early so that she could capture us designing and installing the florals. I have to say, doing flowers in full hair and makeup is not the easiest task! These are such special pictures for us though because we rarely get shots of us working together and the fact that these are intimate photos of us working on our own flowers means even more!
When we started planning our wedding, we really didn't have a color palette. As wedding professionals we find ourselves surrounded by so many beautiful styles that it is hard to nail down a favorite. We decided to let the venue and the season of early Spring guide us. Because of the fresh Spring green leaves that started popping out in the garden, we decided to use a lot of greenery in our floral designs to enhance that. As far as the other florals, we actually just made a list of our favorite flowers- things like hellebore, sweet pea, ranunculus, lisianthus, olive, and roses and decided to send that list to our floral suppliers and sort of just go with how the color shades came in.
The Wedding Tradition
Something old
I wore the lace shoes that my mom wore when she married my dad.
Something new
I had a gorgeous custom chapel-length veil created from English tulle to match my dress.
Something borrowed
Early on in our relationship, Alessio's mom gave my mom a pearl rosary. I borrowed it from my mom on the wedding day so that I could wrap it around the handle of my bouquet to have a piece of Alessio's mom with me as well.
Something blue
My stepfather, who made my engagement ring, crafted custom pearl and sapphire earrings as a wedding gift for me. I love everything vintage and Art Deco and they went perfectly with my ring.
