From the Bride: I always dreamed of having a destination wedding with a view of the ocean and palm trees dancing in the background. I knew that I still wanted a modern and stylish wedding, like a wedding I would plan in DC where we live, but could this really be achieved on the beach in a small island town?
My husband is in the military and does a lot of traveling, so I knew that having a destination wedding might be exciting to him as well. I discussed the idea with him and he had initial hesitations about time, expense, and the amount of people that would attend, but after more discussion we soon decided a destination wedding was the way to go.
We decided to do a first look because we chose a later ceremony time, and we just wanted to have those initial moments alone. It was one of the best decisions we made. He even cried again during the ceremony so that also made me feel like I made a great decision by doing a first look. The ceremony began with Al Green "Still in love with you". We love soul music and the song and sunset went so beautiful together. The bridesmaids walked down to an instrumental of "The point of it all" by Anthony Hamilton, and I walked down to Chrisette Michelle- "Love is You".
When we were at the altar together it was like we were there alone and time stood still. The officiant did an amazing job and beautifully reminded us of the marriage journey ahead. Immediately after we were announced husband and wife we received the most heartfelt cheers and congrats as we walked back down the aisle. It was the greatest feeling in the world to feel everyones sincere happiness for us.
There were certain custom details designed by CM events and With Wild and Grace that included hand lettered acrylic signs, cocktail napkins, drink stirrers, acrylic table numbers, polaroid guestbook, custom designed temporary tattoos, and custom created favor boxes filled with Wedding Chicks tote bags, Brugal Rum and other goodies.
Our 4 layer cake included layers of red velvet and vanilla de leche. The dinner, drinks, and service at Playa Blanca was out of this world, our dream team of vendors were so amazing and every person we came in contact with was so friendly. All of our guests had a blast, and overall it was such a magical evening. We just feel so blessed to have had a fun weekend with our family and friends and an unforgettable wedding day.
