Besides the fact that Michelle and Jason are probably one of the cutest couples we've featured, we are totes in love with their gorgeous destination wedding! So let’s dive right in starting with their dreamy location at Cree Estate in Palm Springs. This hidden oasis under the desert sun was the perfect spot to host their romantic, vacation mode wedding in warm fall tones.
The overall vision for the design was to combine the romance of fall with the free-spirited, spring vibe of Palm Springs. Warm red and pink hues, paired with velvet fabrics, gorgeous blooms, and inflatable flamingos for the pool give this wedding a romantic carefree vibe throughout, and we love every last detail. Kami Olavarria was behind the lens that day as it unfolded, so enjoy all of the gorgeous photos below and in the full gallery.
From Kami Olavarria Photography: This was a destination wedding in every way; Michelle + Jason live in LA and I am based in San Diego, so our planning process was destined to be one of a kind! Mapping out the celebration at the historic Cree Estate was extra special since no venue layouts or floor plans exist. The venue is spacious and can feel overwhelming, but by having a natural flow to the events of the evening and extra-large accessories like; the Photo Booth and Marquee Sign, monogram Letters, and of course the refurbished Globetrotter camper as their Bar, it was easy to create an intimate feeling, yet high-energy party! When it came to the guest tables, we played tic-tac-toe with a mix of rounds and square tables across the lawn. Michelle+Jason's guests were able to escape to a desert paradise of lush landscape covered in fruit trees and the infamous palms, all surrounding their private hacienda. With two pools on the property, inflatable flamingos were a must!
The goal was to combine the romance of fall with the free-spirited vibrance of Palm Springs. With pink linens, moody blooms, and candles in gold hardware it was a one-of-a-kind. Michelle and Jason were incredibly trusting when it came to the styling and vendor team. What was most important to them was the vibe, there was no theme, but an ambiance -- vacation mode with laidback luxury and a carefree celebration of their love.
From Michelle (the bride): Jason and I have attended A LOT of wedding in our lives (I’ve been a bridesmaid/MOH almost 20 times)! I’ve helped plan so many weddings that I kinda lost sight of what I wanted for my own. We knew we wanted a laid back California backyard type of wedding. We ended up picking Palm Springs (one of our fave weekend getaways + lots of great holiday memories ex: my nephews first steps!) for the great weather in October (our favorite month of the year – so we wanted to add another reason to love it). We casually started looking at wedding venues online and Cree Estate was the first venue we looked up! We fell in love immediately and booked it that day!
I wanted warm, rich fall colors, but still that outdoor Palm springsy vibe. Jessica (and Arturo) really helped me get focused as I really had no idea what I was going for until she showed me visually. I had a pretty tight budget, but in the end, I had all the things I wanted: Beautiful flowers, good drinks, good music, dancing under the stars, and our favorite people with us!
We literally had the best time of our lives. We felt so loved by family and friends and it really helped us catapult our relationship to the next level. As for budget, I think we spent about 50K (at least I stopped keeping track at that point since my original budget was 30K lol lol). I think I rushed too many things at the end I could probably saved on if I shopped around more!
