• Real Weddings

A lot can be said about going with the flow, especially when it comes to planning a wedding. Most wedding vendors are creatives and they want to be just that...CREATIVE. They are just as excited about your wedding design as you are and the more freedom you give them to be themselves, the bigger and harder they are going to go. The best thing you can do is hire a planner that gets your style, describe the vibe you're going for in as much detail as possible (pics help!), and ask them if they have any ideas that they're excited about. That's exactly what this couple did and all of their vendors took their dreams and ran with them, and the result–an epic disco dance party under a tropical canopy in Tulum. 

Thanks to a disco ball installation, these photos by Andre Gouin absolutely sparkle! Diana Romo Weddings and Maria Limon incorporated all of the couple's wedding dreams and then some amazing elements that they didn't even know they wanted. They also were on top of a potentially catastrophic weather situation and switched things up flawlessly at the last minute. Mina Tulum and Wild Tulum set the tone for this fun tropical wedding! A LITTLE LEEWAY GOES A LONG WAY

Yvonne & Jeff are a super easy-going couple from San Francisco, CA. From the first moment, we knew this was going to be a beautiful wedding, not just for the ideas of our clients, but also because Yvonne was one of those clients who fully trust you and she was not afraid to push a little out of her comfort zone! We knew she was all about details, and she knew her colors, but she gave us the freedom and trust to work on her design. When a client is like that, the planning and design is fun and easy!

When we were working on the design, we knew she liked warm colors like terracotta, marsala, and mustard combined with color blocks (I mean (obsessed!!!). She wanted to have a lush exotic wedding in the jungle in beautiful Wild Tulum, while still keeping a touch of glamour! Yvonne wore a stunning Galia Lahav Wedding Gown that inspired us to add a glamorous touch to the design. Together with the super talented Maria Limon and Archive Rentals, led by Creative Director, Daniela Parra, we came up with this beautiful design.

SWITCHING IT UP

On the day of the wedding, we had 3 different locations: Nomade Tulum for getting ready, Mina Tulum for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and Wild Tulum for the reception and party. In the Caribbean, the weather doesn't always play in our favor, and that was the case on this February day (which isn't even in the rainy season). A day before the wedding, the forecast for the day of the wedding didn't look promising. We originally planned to have a beach wedding, however, on the day of the wedding, we had to move to an indoor space for the ceremony. I am a fan of the industrial style and Mina had an inner space that looked amazing. We talked to the couple and decided to move it in. In my opinion, this was the best decision as it turned out better than the original plan. The Reception was moved into what was supposed to be the dancefloor, a beautiful covered area in the back of Wild, with a jungle background playing against dramatic lighting and disco balls–the ambiance was magical, to say the least.

RIGHT BEFORE THE WORLD CHANGED

Another thing I would like to mention is the timing. COVID 19 was about the change the world–little we knew. Both the bride and groom had Chinese heritage, and a lot of the guests came from China. The borders were about to be closed, so we had to move some schedules and some of the guests had to leave right after the reception to be able to access their country before the lockdown. This was our last 2020 wedding and couldn't be more grateful to have Yvonne and Jeff as our clients. What a magical day!
