From the Bride:
Prior to wedding planning, I always envisioned an elegant outdoor garden wedding with lush flowers and soft colors. Even though we both come from large families we knew that we wanted to keep our wedding very intimate with only our closest family and friends, so finding a venue ideal for intimate weddings was key.
I came across
Bella Collina Country Club in the Orlando area. It was perfect for what we envisioned and we contacted them right away to find out if our date was available. Crushed that we wouldn't be able to have the wedding on our anniversary, we decided to keep on looking for another venue.
We booked at exactly one year away from our wedding date and excited to get into all the planning.
5 months before the wedding, and the venue we chose was a nightmare from strict rules to terrible food selections and a difficult venue coordinator. It was a very difficult decision but my fiancé and I decided to walk away from the venue!
Slowly Bella Collina crept back into our minds and we contacted them yet again. This time however, we let go of the thought of having the wedding on our anniversary and opted for a Monday wedding.
We were blown away and booked the venue! It was a beautiful Tuscan style venue with amazing stone work and hills that would make you believe you were in Italy, amazing to think that we were in Florida. The staff was wonderful and helped us get everything squared away, and the food was delicious. It was a perfect wedding planning weekend.
I wish I had practiced using the restroom in my dress prior to the wedding day. During planning, I read tips that suggested facing the wall and straddling the toilet to make life easier, so in my mind I had it in the bag. What I forgot to consider was the silhouette of my dress, which hugged at my hips and thighs. When the time came to use the restroom, to my surprise, I could not lift the dress higher than mid-thigh. Luckily my maid of honor assisted me in getting completely out of the dress and holding on to it so I could use the restroom.
We returned from our wonderful weekend that Sunday and the very next day, my fiancé got into an auto-accident where he suffered a concussion and other injuries.
When we booked the venue we moved the wedding date 6 weeks earlier than our original date. Not only that, Bella Collina was 3 hours away from the venue we originally booked so we cancelled all our vendors except our designer/coordinator, photographer, and videographer.
Now we're less than 4 months before the wedding, my fiancé was struggling to recover from a concussion and we had several vendors that needed booking. Luckily with much organization and a wonderful team of vendors, in the end we managed to have a perfect wedding day!
Looking back now, I would say our mishap with the first venue allowed us the opportunity to find the best vendors. I would advise future brides to seek out vendors not only local to the area in which the venue is located but those who you and your partner feel have the best work and vision to make your wedding dreams come true.
