Love can be a tangled affair, but for this next wedding couple their big day was all kinds of Tangled... in theme as well as managing rained out destination wedding! Yes, this next beautiful Disney's Tangled themed beach wedding day was both a magical work of art as well as a bit of a planning headache as a tropical storm turned their plans inside out.

We both love going to the beach as a family, even just for a quick stroll (and usually followed by brunch!). When we visited the island of Balesin, we immediately fell in love with the place and its majestic views of the Pacific Ocean. The wedding was intimate; we only had 50 heads in total.
We DIYed welcome bags containing our personal favorites including first aid kits, and island tours were arranged for guests to leisurely visit the 7 themed villages on the island. I also made DIY personalized hats which doubled as our wedding favors. For female guests, their names on summer hats were handmade by me using black matte sequin trim and accentuated with cute pompom tassels in the middle; while for gents we opted for a plain black ribbon as decor.
My wedding gown was designed by my close friend Nicole who at that time was just on her 3rd month taking up fashion studies. Nicole envisioned something fit for a princess but also something light for a beach wedding. Her design focused on hand embroidered branches/twigs as a nod to Tangled's enchanted forest and the island's lush greenery. I couldn't be any more proud that I wore her first ever creation!
Another DIY I did was my prep dress. Instead of buying a robe for bridal prep shoot, I re-purposed an old mesh dress I have tucked in my closet. I just replaced the floor length lining with a mini nightdress and voila!
For my bridesmaids, their dresses drew subtle inspiration from Tangled in the form of light purple delicate floral prints, while Jeff and his groomsmen’s pale blue waistcoats were a nod to the island's pristine beaches. One of my bridesmaids suggested using lanterns adorned with cascading flowers. For the flower girl basket, we added a miniature Pascal which also kept my little girl entertained while she was walking down the aisle.
All of my sisters were my bridesmaids and I knew they favor cocktail dresses over long gowns so we went with chic midi dresses.
It was Jeff's suggestion to incorporate a few inspirations from Tangled to make it personal for us. At first, I thought he was not serious at all, but he was insistent. Only after a few weeks into our wedding planning that he finally revealed that it was our first ever movie date!!
We weren't allowed to light up sky lanterns on the island due to fire-hazard nipa roofs, and it's also not eco-friendly. First of April did an excellent job in incorporating sky lanterns in our custom invites.
We really adore Pascal so our wedding cake vendor came up with a brilliant idea of incorporating Pascal into the cake design, where Pascal can be seen peeking in one of the flowers on the cake.
We were fortunate enough to have short periods of sunlight during bridal preps and first look. Unfortunately, a tropical storm made a landfall on our wedding day, both the supposedly outdoor beach ceremony and reception setup had to be moved indoors. Luckily there was a chapel on the island. The chapel has a unique round shape and simply charming!
Due to inclement weather days before, some of our suppliers, coordinators and materials were stranded at the seaport a day before the wedding. Perhaps less than half of the florals & decors reached the island via plane (our menu cards arrived 4 days after our wedding, due to another storm days prior). As our reception was moved into a restaurant, space was a bit limited for tables and the hats display which was supposed to hold each guest's escort card. While things didn’t turn out how we had planned, we enjoyed every minute of our special day as cliché as it sounds. As a friend rightly said, braving the storm is a preview of married life!
