Sydney Azria (of the BCBG Max Azria family) Ties The Knot At LA’s Famed Chateau Marmont
LA's Chateau Marmont has seen its share of celebrity engagements, but this wedding takes the cake! Sydney Azria (of the BCBG Max Azria family) and his lovely bride Cristina tied the knot in style with their Old Hollywood glam meets European dinner party-inspired wedding. From the groom's white tux jacket and the bride's designer gown, the fashion was expectedly on-point. The secluded garden at Chateau Marmont was transformed into a floral wonderland with yellow and white wildflowers as far as the eye can see.
The couple trusted Alissa Hussey to bring their unique vision to life, and they did just that! From the ceremony to the reception, these florals by Leproux Collective really helped set the scene and carry this fun color palette throughout the entire event. OLD HOLLYWOOD GLAM MEETS EUROPEAN DINNER PARTY
When the groom is Sydney Azria (yes, THAT Azria, as in the BCBG Max Azria family!), you know the style is going to be phenomenal. Sydney and Cristina dreamt of a wedding that combined old Hollywood glamour with a European dinner party, and their Chateau Marmont setting perfectly fit their vision. They wanted guests to feel like they had stepped back in time, to a European dinner party from years ago with no rules, just flowing champagne, good food, and great music. The aesthetic was formal but undone: white tablecloths, mismatched silver, an abundance of white and yellow wildflowers, timeless bistro chairs, and a classic black and white dance floor. When it came to fashion, we can't decide on our favorite detail: the bride's Oscar De La Renta dress and veil, the 100-year-old family heirloom engagement ring, or the sweet gifts from the venue. The team at Chateau Marmont surprised the couple with monogrammed pillows, robes, and sweaters (including a mini monogrammed "A" sweatshirt for future baby Azria!). With this being the first (and possibly only) wedding at Chateau Marmont, this is one you can't miss!
HOW THEY MET
We met at a party hosted at a jewelry store in Venice on Abbot Kinney. After the party, a small group went for drinks at The Tasting Kitchen down the street and we were seated next to each other. The proposal took place on a hike overlooking the ocean in Santa Cruz. Sydney went to UCSC and we go every year at the end of December to celebrate New Year’s at the same hotel and same restaurant that we went to on our first trip together.
A SURPRISINGLY EASY PLANNING PROCESS
The planning process was creatively exciting, challenging, and consuming as we are both detail-oriented perfectionists. However, the main facets were surprisingly easy and we were both on the same page for so many of the big picture items. Overall, we both had an idea in our head from day one that we never strayed too far from. The day of was a dream to remember from 7 am when we woke up to 5 am when we finished the after-party. The dual-religion ceremony with the pastor that baptized Cristina at 2 years old and our Rabbi was something we worked very hard on and will always be special to us as a foundation for our marriage. We surrounded ourselves with friends and family all weekend which made it feel like a fun, relaxed weekend get-together rather than a wedding. Our cake was a HUGE surprise to us as we had only talked about it once and then left it with the masters at Laduree; the first person to see it was our photographer and he immediately came to show us photos of how gorgeous it looked. And perhaps, the most memorable was the after-party in the penthouse that went on all night!
