How perfect for Mark and Ashley to wed by a river of the same name! Grounded in the south, Ashley studied design in Savannah, GA before landing a job in Ventura, CA, working on the design team at Patagonia. Mark, originally from Michigan, worked for Merrell before moving over to design shoes for Patagonia.
Her parents live in North Carolina and chose a great Charleston planner to flesh out details for their Lowcountry wedding. Ashley is so laid-back, and this wedding was full of Southern splendor. I loved how her friends gushed over the big Charleston wedding, but despite the size and scope, it was a relaxed and fun day.
She chose to do a first look, enabling us to take in a quick tour of downtown for some portraits prior to the ceremony. The wedding party was gorgeous, as were the festive farm tables by the river. Oh, and I loved the mix of ceremony seating - benches and chairs in wood, white, and aqua. The food stations were fantastic, and Ashley got first dibs in the oyster room, much to her delight.
The band was awesome and unusual as far as Southern weddings go -- Buddhist Prodigies are local and are a Phish and Widespread Panic cover band. After cutting their sugar magnolia cake and dancing a bit longer, they departed in a horse-drawn carriage beneath a shower of sparklers.
