Wedding sign Friends of the Bride and Groom sit together

Allie and Henry were married at Kalmia Farm in Boulder, Colorado. It just so happened that this very farm was also the groom's grandfather's property, and the place where his parents were married. Talk about tradition! The sacredness of this special space offered a deep connection for everyone there and truly infused the ceremony with intention.

1000 paper cranes were also present at this wedding and were used in some super cute ways. Along with the cranes comes a multitude of other DIY's that we know you will love. So, keep reading to see exactly how much this crafty couple put their day together! See more of this sweet intimate outdoor wedding in the full gallery here, all captured by Megan Newton Photography.

Quaker Wedding Ceremony

Allie and Henry were married in the Quaker tradition, offering a nod to their roots. The Quaker wedding ceremony is performed without an officiant, allowing the couple to exchange personal vows and marry one another. The ceremony traditional also invites guests to speak words of wisdom and blessing to the couple as they feel led. Documenting the ceremony, I witnessed the couple and guests sink into the connection, the vows being made, and the commitment they were all joined in.

Infuse your wedding with personality

Most of Allie and Henry's details were DIY. The bride is an artist so much of this came natural to her. As I learned about Allie and Henry's wedding details and what was important to them, I realized that intentionality led their decision to do so many DIY projects. The couple was reflected in all aspects of the wedding day. Perhaps the most intentional I have ever seen.

ideas to DIY

To list a few of the significant DIY/green projects and personal details: Henry and his brothers brewed all the beer for the wedding from hops grown on his grandfather's property and mountain water collected from a stream running through his aunt's property in the Colorado Rockies. Henry's mother grew all the flowers. Henry and Allie plus friends folded over 1,000 peace cranes. Allie painted/designed/crafted: invites, all yard/ceremony signs, dreamcatcher seating chart, table numbers, gold-dipped leaf placeholders, guestbook, programs. Allie watercolored 100 different wildflowers as favors and hand stamped all the seed packets with various seeds.
