A sunset-inspired San Diego wedding with perfect mix-and-match style

bright pink and orange floral installations

Fun-loving couple, Taylor and Cale, recently moved to San Diego and wanted their East Coast guests to enjoy an elevated Southern California affair. The vision started with a bright sunset-inspired color palette of reds, oranges, and pinks that set the foundation for the entire design and created a warm and inviting ambiance for the day. Numerous warm wooden tones and jute chandeliers were layered in to create that elevated, yet relaxed, Southern California vibe. Keep scrolling to see how this couple's day came together with the most beautiful mix-and-match style with help from Always Flawless Productions, and all captured on camera by Courtney Paige Photography.

The perfect way for faraway loved ones to help

Bride Taylor’s sweet mom hand-calligraphed all of the addresses on the couple's invitations, as well as the names on the place cards for guests' seats. It added an incredibly personalized touch to the day and was a wonderful way for her to help from hundreds of miles away!

Bright florals with bougainvillea

Floral was the element that truly pulled the couple's entire vision for their day together. Tularosa Flowers used brightly colored blooms and sprinkled in bougainvillea throughout the entire design, as bougainvillea was the bride’s favorite floral and a California staple.

Floral design to fit the venue's architecture

In designing the ceremony, Tularosa Flowers worked with the beautiful Spanish architecture already in place at the Darlington House and designed an arch that felt incredibly intentional with the existing archway. She combined the brightly colored blooms with the natural bougainvillea and strategically added in soft colored terracotta pots to complete a one-of-a-kind ceremony design.

The couple opted for a contemporary seating chart built onto the fencing that already existed at the venue. A classic script heading was offset by a contemporary font for the table numbers and names, creating a timeless effect.

Statement jute chandeliers and bougainvillea

Taylor and Cale were set on wanting a tent for their reception, so they brought in a clear tent so guests could still enjoy the natural beauty of the venue. From there, Always Flawless Productions created a breathtaking statement piece of jute chandeliers and bougainvillea that ‘wowed’ guests as the made their way into the reception. This set the tone for the evening and perfectly paired with the whitewashed tables, natural wood chairs, and brightly colored florals.

In addition to aesthetics, Taylor and Cale also cared about their guest’s experience, so food and beverage were a big piece of the wedding day puzzle. Coast Catering knocked the food out of the park and provided Southern California-inspired tray-passed hors d’eouvres during cocktail hour - the ahi tuna tacos were definitely a fan favorite! - before indulging everyone with a delicious dinner. Taylor and Cale sat in vintage pink velvet chairs at a sweetheart table set up in front of their (repurposed!) vibrant ceremony installations.

When it came to signature drinks, Taylor and Cale chose two incredibly personalized options: Mai Thais, made from scratch from Cale’s personal recipe, and Spicy Margaritas, with a homemade jalapeno infused tequila. Both were a huge hit with the guests!
