Rustic Chic Wedding at Trezzi Farms in Spokane, Washington

Couple holding hands wedding grapes

Megan and Ben love the outdoors — especially in Northeastern Washington — so it was no surprise this couple decided to exchange nuptials outside on a gorgeous summer day at Trezzi Farms on Green Bluff just north of Spokane, Washington. Filled to the brim with thoughtful details and perfect summer blooms designed by Half Moon Blooms.

From the bride on their intimate card exchange-As if the anticipation and buildup of the day wasn't enough, I took it one step further with asking Ben that we exchange cards on the day of before we saw each other for the first time. No pressure! Ben, the quiet one of us, doesn't always vocalize his feelings, and even as much as I talk, expressing words of love and adoration for him can make me tear up in five seconds flat.

The cards gave us more of a neutral arena to share our feelings and love for one another in a way that was private, on our own terms and those cards are now a keepsake for us to look back on. Those words are immortalized in those cards, for us to look at forever as a fond reminder of that day and of the commitment and love we have for one another. I am so glad we exchanged cards. It was a small moment of that day, but one that holds a very special place in my heart.

I spent many weekends in college north of Spokane, a short drive away from Trezzi Farms. All those weekends were spent with an axe or chainsaw in my hand, since I was a competitive lumberjack during my years at WSU. Those years were very formative in my life, and since the Palouse and eastern Washington was so important to both Ben and I, it seemed like an easy decision to get married in a region we both had such strong connections too.

Our wedding theme was easy to come by. We wanted it to be simple and country-chic because of our love for Eastern Washington and the wheatfields of the Palouse. The color scheme included lots of texture and pops of color. Because the wedding was outdoors with a country-type setting, we used burlap and lace for the table runners, faux-tiqued mason jars for the vases and lots of candles to provide nice lighting when the sun started setting. The colors of the flowers looked great with the bright orange sunsets Eastern Washington typically has. It fit us both and the area we loved.

On our wedding day my favorite element was the wild field flowers. Our florist, Half Moon Blooms, worked wonders that incorporated a wide range field flowers in various oranges, reds and yellows and had stalks of wheat thrown as a tribute to our love of the Palouse. She understood every detail and took it to a whole new level. They were perfection.

It was important to incorporate country-chic details into our day, with rough textured burlap runners on the picnic tables to field flowers in the vases to help refine the experience. And naturally — hearty, comforting food was imperative for our guests — nothing light and chincy here!
